PCM 3.1 stuck in emergency update loop

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry for reviving this thread like this but I need your wisdom. i'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask but you guys were the first result for my problem
My porsche radio cd boots to the logo and just reboots and repeats. I've tried the usb method with the pcm 3.1 but it didnt work. I tried swapping the hdd with one from a radio that works and still the same thing. Please, I need your guidance. I'm not tech savvy with these things.

Sounds like a different problem than most of us have. So maybe a real firmware issue in your case. I just was stuck at the .placeholder update step. Don't know if your system can be revived. It should even just work without any HDD inserted. Maybe in the emergency boot loop but not just rebooting to the logo.
Keeping the INFO button pressed for a couple of seconds should reset the system. But that is just a soft-reset like unplugging the fuse and reinserting the fuse.

To resume my saga: I received both the Zheino IDE PATA SSD and a Ableconn mSATA to IDE2.5 adapter. Tested and both worked with PCM. I will keep the mSATA adapter just because it's newer and the performance numbers with the Transcend SSD I am using are better compared to Zheino SSD.
The secret of the Ableconn adapter is that it's based on a Marvell 88SA8052 chipset.

Thank you so much for speedy reply, btw im from Mel also, will try to re burn another disc from the IOS
I have the exact issue as tdidriver had, I was wondering how come mine is showing Device: PCM31, where most of others are showing PCM20XXXXXXX (a longer code)?

From my understanding I don't think you can put in a black hard drive and have the PCM format it, needs to be done prior. I might be wrong though but I don't think I have heard of anyone doing that and it working.
