"how to best transfer fuel to the main tank?"
Exactly the question we want to ask you, in addition to getting ideas for enhanced diesel filtration. Reason to do this would be to increase range enableing travel into Mexico. Also letting us travel north of Coldfoot AK and more of the north country.

We have used transfer tanks in our chase trucks for years and they use a solenoid valve, either manual or electrical in the main fuel line that switches from oem tank to reserve tank, but those tanks are in the bed of the truck. A tank inside the vehicle would be dangerous if not a fuel cell and then you have the issues with filling and fumes. I wonder if it wouldn't be safer and more cost effective to have a custom gas tank made to replace the oem, that can gain you some gallons. Sounds like a big project one way or the other....Best of luck and look forward to seeing what you come up with.

We simply purchased OEM tow hooks, cut the loop ends off saving the threaded portion to attach the bush bar. Yes all Porsche models use reverse threaded tow hooks. Here is one photo of what we did, many others earlier in this post. This method has served us well for ~eight years and over 108k miles. We have used our winch which attaches to the bush bar when not stored inside - no issues with this or when using the bar as a recovery point. You can also see the relocated parking sensors in the photo.
.
Hoping for the west coast air quality will improve soon as the smoke levels are extremely high. The air quality index AQI scale goes from 0 to 500 we are seeing 'Hazardous' levels in the high 400s. Salem, Oregon broke the charts today measuring 520. When it gets safe to hit the trails again we will.

I think the sleeping platform with the drawers/storage underneath would be better instead of having diesel tank inside.
Besides, you can just carry 20-40 liters of extra fuel on hitchgate instead of water

957 Rally cars had extra 60 liter fuel tank, but Cayenne Diesel already have a good cruising range and extra 40 liters you can carry on hitchgate could be enough for most trips.

As for extra filtration I think it should be easy to add 2 inline parallel canister type filters somewhere in the engine bay so it is easy to service.

Is this a factory tank, can it be purchased or are there images of them ?

The rear seat and cargo area are now home to an aluminum fuel cell, extra fuel cans, a tool box and two full-size matching spare tires. There’s also a quick-mount Warn winch stowed just behind the mid-body cross brace.

Default Question about lift kits

I saw that a few of you mentioned not to go above 24-25 degrees on the CVs, does that equate to a 2” or 2.5” lift kit max? thank you for your guidance. This is for a 2010 cayenne S.

.
Our 2013 diesel has air suspension, for the past eight years and 110k off-grid miles we have not had a need for a lift kit. Yes we have needed our rock sliders, roll bar, skid plates, bush bar, rear tire mount with two 5 gal military Scepter cans, and winch that can be used up front or in back. We are not interested in rock climbing, or mudding. We are interested in multi week Overland trips that include technical trails. Example, the WABDR is a trail that goes from Oregon to the Canadian border. While there are bypass options around the technical sections we never took the bypass for the entire route. The Lolo Magruder trail has one section starting at 3,800 feet, climbs to ~8,000 then decends to ~4,000 in about a mile 'Otis' had no issues.
We are not against getting a lift kit, it has not been necessary in our travels. The trails we travel are more than groomed forest roads. With permissions gathering environmental data 'Otis' has traveled where there are no trails without issues. Our build focus is to travel to remote off-grid locations, sustain ourselves there for an extended stay, often times solo. The range and low end torque of our diesel has definitely helped. We carry 18 gallons of water as that, not fuel, is our limiting factor.
Others have done amazing things with their Cayenne without a lift kit like Sandy Conner and Lisa Wolford who won their class in this 958 Cayenne at the Rebelle Rally. This is a women-only ten day event navigating the desert no electronics only paper and compass. Jan Kalmar has set several world distance records with his diesel Cayenne like driving from Norway to South Africa, the entire coastline of Australia, etc all in record time without a lift kit.
All this to say that the stock Cayenne is very capable and adaptable for most any adventure. Body armor, HAM radio communications, Xpel wrap PPF, and our camping gear have enabled us and 'Otis' to do our thing comfortably. While this works for us, you need to do you and have fun.

Default Four P!Gs in their element - MUD

We have really exercised our 2013 Diesel with 112k miles of mainly off-road and endurance rally where we regularly use our air suspension, low end touque, and fuel range. Lots of different environments driving from the hot Chihuahuan desert up to the frozen Arctic Ocean where temps got to -40F, 60mph winds, blizzard, -90F windchill. Ice racing on the frozen Yukon River at Dawson City was among the highlights of our second ALCAN winter rally March 2020.
Saturday took our CD to Dirtfish for some mud and wading through the water experience. WRC drivers like Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, and Sébastien Loeb have all had fun driving at DirtFish. They are developing a 4x4 course that we both got to drive Saturday. Lots of fun - Many different rigs, four Cayennes ran yesterday - P!Gs in their element - MUD. It was nice to see four Cayenne's on course showing how capable they are. Also had Search & Rescue folks on hand to teach winching and other recovery techniques. Got home in time to hose 'Otis' down and watch the last of Sebring.

Great pics Richard! Thanks for sharing!

How did the red Cayenne lose its fender trim moulding? And did that 911 get stuck, or just spectate? What fun.

Good catch on the fender wheel trim, will have to ask.
The 911 drove into the course paddock which was plenty rough as you can see. Did not see them run on it while we were there.
.
Thanks for posting the detailed air suspension write-up - hope it gets pinned
Got us to thinking how long we should tempt fate having a failure as old and used as ours is
Have had no issues so far but will keep a closer eye on it.

Rain City Supercars and our schedules meshed for Podcast Episode 213
"The Life, Times, and Adventures of Otis Porsche"
.
Thankyou Nick & Dan! I screwed up as Otis only has 122k miles -
Always a joy to visit the Hagerty facility where they broadcast from. Many dream cars, our favorite is the '52 Vincent Black Lightning - just need to find a redhead in black leathers. We have tickets to see Richard Thompson next year.

Richard Thompson - '52 Vincent Black Lightning and redhead in black leathers reference
Says James: "In my opinion there's nothing in this world beats a '52 Vincent and a red-headed girl.
Now Nortons, and Indians, and Greeveses won't do; they don't have a soul like a Vincent '52."

Default 'Cayenne's on the Colockum'

'Otis' led PCAs Pacific North West Region's 'Cayenne's on the Colockum' eight years ago - A fun trip we have done many times since - Six stock Cayenne's, a Volvo XC90, Ford Escape, and a modified VW Syncro traveled the rocky 1800s wagon trail from Ellensburg to Wenatchee Washington. The pass tops out at 5,490' we pressed on to snow at 6,600'. Views of the Columbia River and valley, the states largest elk herd, folks learning how capable stock Cayenne's are - all for a fun day!
