Just reread the owners manual. If the interior temp is below 54 the heated wheel comes on. But it only heats to 72 and shuts back off when the interior temp reaches 71.

Mostly designed so that the wheel never feels cold, not to actually warm your hands.

I have a 2013 CS with the heated steering wheel option but it doesn't come on automatically. There is a button behind the steering wheel, at the 6 o'clock position, that you have to press to turn the heat on/off.

I have been trying all my options trying to verify they all work.

I thought mine heated when the heated seat was turned on. I will have to check once more though! we are being ravaged by global warming here in the mid-atlantic and it may have come on automatically the other day and testing the seats was just a coincidence!

Steering Wheel Heating
If the interior temperature in the vehicle is lower
than +54°F (12°C) when the ignition is switched
on, the steering wheel heating is switched on automatically.
When this happens, the steering wheel adjusts to
a temperature of +73°F (23°C).
If the interior temperature rises above +71°F
(22°C) when the vehicle is operational, the steering
wheel heating switches off again.

That is nifty for you, but has no bearing on the OP vehicle

The actual facts from the owners manual have now been posted twice for the OP vehicle.

Interesting what kind of information the manual has, isn't it!

Is it true that if one has the wooden steering wheel then the heated option is unavailable? That glossy wood feels good when it's warm but can get burrrrr in the cold.

Maybe not, but it has bearing to any 958 owner that may have the same question (and I have seen it asked before) that stumbles on this thread.

Since the OP didn't include which model he has in his original post, you're initial post could have been just as "pointless" if it was a 958 he was talking.
