I just checked in my new-to-me '06 S and the DVD p/n is 997.642.257.02 and says it's 04.2005. Looks like I need an updated DVD.
Do you have a mm.yyyy date code on the left side of the DVD?

I also checked the system s/w levels w/ Firehawk's directions: (hold Main and Trip buttons down at same time)
PCM: Target 05024AD1/0205
Actual: same as above
System S/W: Target 04304AD1/3004
Actual: same as above
Nav System: Target / (nothing else)
Actual: 00179412/5004
I'm just guessing but it looks like my versions are a little old. Anyone know the cost for the DVD and system s/w updates?
UPDATE: I did some looking at TSB's covering the PCM on Loren's Renntech.org site (you have to be a member of Renntech @ about $25 to see the TSB's) and it turns out my PCM s/w vers. I list above is what they call "Model B". If I'm reading the 2 TSB's correctly it is the min. level to use the newest mapping s/w. There is PCM s/w vs. "Model C " and "C1" which would require a update to my PCM system but would not be required to use the latest Nav DVD s/w.
The TSB's are written in a convoluted manor but that is how I'm reading them. The first TSB is 9110 dated 9/7/05 which covers up to the '06 MY vehicles. TSB 9110 dated 11/30/07 starts with the MY '08 vehicles but also covers vehicles with PCM's that are at "Model B" level or above.

I did find this on PCNA's web site. Don't know why this has a 955 part number when both our DVD's have 997 p/n's unless the 955 part includes the "system update"?
"Navigation Update
Update the PCM navigation system for vehicles from 06/04 with the status of MY05. The update consists of a system update and map update and makes navigation generally more accurate. The map material covers new data and is much more detailed.
Please consult your Porsche dealer for information on your PCM data status.
part no. 955 044 900 08"

Bill, when did you buy a Cayenne? I knew you were looking, but I didn't realize you bought one. I've been on the road for the last week or so, and maybe I missed it...

Picked it up Tues. and drove it 850 mi. home. Didn't do an announcement 'cause I don't have photos yet (I know it's a RL requirement). And believe it or not it didn't blow up, start smoking, give me any weird msgs. or otherwise leave me stranded on the side of the road the entire trip. Amazing.

Interesting...I purchased a CPO 2006 Cayenne Turbo S in Pensacola,FL and drove it 1200 miles in 2 days and had absolutley zero issues. This is a great SUV...Wait till Larry or ltc reads our posts. He will likley rain on our parade !

I'm not real impressed with the selling dealer's service shop though. When I picked it up I checked the oil (while the truck was cold) and it was clean and well on the stick. When I checked it on the way home (warm) the level is well over the fill mark. Checked it again today (warm after a drive) and it still reads well over full. I'll have to drain some out tonight.
PS fluid was below the min. mark (I have Pent. 202 and added).
This was after the truck had gone through both the 30k service w/ oil & filter change and CPO checklist from the dealer in the last 2 mos.
This is why I do my own maintenance.....

Dear Sir,
As you appear to be a prospective future Cayenne owner (no Cayenne in your sig), I took the liberty of doing a brief STTF for you.

Holy crap! I don't remember where I read/heard it but I thought it was closer to $200. Must have been a salesman, would explain why it's so far off.
