Cd based navigation flawed... No fix from P!
On my 03 C4 cab with navigation based AND 04 Cayenne TT I have the following problem (US cars):
select a town relatively far from where you are (>20 miles)
input a very common address like "12 main st"
look at the direction on the map...
it leads me to the closest town with a "12 main st"
If you select the town center, directions are correct...
Here is the best part: the dealer could easily reproduce the problem, but after some inquiry, they say Porsche has no updates and no fix, nor do they seem to want to update the system anymore. Both cars are still under warranty.
Anyone nice enough to try this and see if they have the problem?

You could always send a letter
Maybe they just needed one more little letter to push their decision to endorse an update for Navteq to carry out.
Incidentally, I picked up a new 2006 BMW 330ci with the performance package and Dinan upgrades for my wife. Will pick up the car in a week depending when they will get the hardtop we ordered in. The car has Nav and I am sure it will be so far superior to what is going on in my car right now that I will regain my fury of motivation and organize a trip down to Georgia for a demonstration....kinda like the "million man march" but maybe only a few guys and gals..99firehawk you should join us!

You guys are implying this is a data problem.
The list of possible streets for each town is correct, but is not used correctly.
I think it is a software problem, the program that uses the data on the CD, thus no need for updates from Navtec, but an update to the head unit.
So how many people really have this problem?

This would be reason enough for me to march in our "fictional" protest
<--- Pretend that's you but not holding a picket sign that doesn't say OFF TOPIC, but rather UPDATE MY NAV.

I think you are correct because I did not have this problem before they repaced my nav unit.
