Updated navigation CDs for 2004 Cayenne S
Hello all...
I just purchased a 2004 Cayenne S, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It seems to be a great combination of a sports car and an SUV.
One frustration is that the OEM navigation system doesn't recognize many streets in my town, including my neighborhood (which is over 40 years old). Does anybody know if there is an update available? If not, does anybody know if one is coming soon?
Thanks very much for your help.
Dennis

You might wish to do a search on this topic as we have beat it to death but let me bring you up to speed.
You have a "CD" based navigation system - there was one update released in 2005 - since then there have been no "CD" based updates nor are any expected.

OK, thanks for the information...
I did the search, and it seems that several people are unhappy with the CD based system. It seems OK to me when it recognizes the street you are on, but is is lacking so much data! The DVD-based system in our HUMMER is far superior.
I hope NavTeq is able to do something - an update would be nice.
Thanks again for the help.

Dear Dennis, new forum-buddy.... there are some threads that detail the sorry state of old Nav disks and the PAG mentality about your neighborhoods appearance on your CD based NAV system.. it involves fingers..wait, one finger....
So, in summation.. You're really, really, really (did I say really) going to like your current OEM out-dated navigation system... or not!

Hello,
Welcome to He!!
My name is Larry.
Satan is busy at the moment, negotiating with the evil Dr W. and Peter the Great, so he asked me if I could be of some assistance.
While you're sitting here in the waiting room, perhaps you'd like to read these:

Newbie yes... and proud of it!
I've been on your side of this too, so I understand. I've been a regular on the Saabnet boards for the last few years to discuss my 2004 Saab 9-5 Aero. The Cayenne is replacing it.
Well, I guess I'll learn the Nav song and sing it with everybody else. I know where my house is anyway, and I didn't buy the Cayenne for the nav system.
Thanks for the welcome!

Awesome, I'm really looking forward to it
It's always best to go right to the source for accurate information - the owners themselves!
I'm sure I'll have plenty of additional questions once I get to know the car a little better.
Fortunately, based on what I've read about the Cayenne, I have a warranty that covers me bumper-to-bumper until 80K miles.
Again, I'm only a week into owning my first Porsche, but I'm lovin' it so far!
