I would hope that they don't want that type of creativity. Imagine if you will Motor Trend, Car and Driver being invited to a "creative" gathering of people who decided that glitches and arrogance have reached a zenith.
Attention? I'm pretty sure they already have a file or two....or maybe a file CABINET or two, for little ol' me.

Hmmmn,
sue, trailer hitch software, MOST.....
this is like the DaVinci code of Rennlist....so naturally it should reside here in the Cayenne forum.

On a slightly more serious note, at least from my recent observations, is that PCNA simply doesn't give a ****, mainly because they don't have to.
Whether they're right or wrong (in a technical and/or legal sense), it will simply become a test of wills....or in the modern case, a test to see how much $$, time and patience you are willing to spend/invest to prove your point/position. Interrogatories, subpoenas for deposiiton, motion for protective order.....you enter the world of legal 'cat and mouse' with the PCNA Legal staff (NOT a small staff either) until you suddenly realize both you and PCNA are spending MORE than the vehicle was worth in the first place.

It truly is a matter of profits over anything else, trust me.
Case in point....did the A506 cowboy belt buckle show itself to be the ONLY solution to their problem/mistake? I dont' think you'd even see that in a Kia IMHO.

IF there was a financial incentive for PCNA to release a killer set of NAV data (like the kind you get in other cars/trucks/golf carts/GPS wristwatches/cellphones), then believe me, they would in a heartbeat.
IF PCNA could make a profit selling the organs of Cayenne owners who fall asleep at the dealership for the 19th service appointment, trust me, they'd have a surgeon and cooler packed with a ziplock bag and ice at every dealership by tomorrow morning.

Cayenne ownership.....it's like the Matrix, it's hard to believe what reality is until you are confronted with it. Some will accept the reality, others will simply put their heads in the sand and seek refuge.

But, hey, that's life and that's the 'new' Porsche, and I"ll likely just be given another "****itol" pill (or suppository) and move on.

Hi,

I posted this on Roadfly and will port here too:

I have been trying to figure out a few things on the PCM2.1 (DVD) I have in my 2005 Cayenne.

I have read the TSB's posted on Renntech.org and Porsche updated the software and possibly the hardware in June of 2005 after my car was built. The TSB specifically cites the addition of roads (some 2 million miles) and extra detail for POI's, etc.

This interested me as my home is on an old road and yet I drive through "yellow" daily and it drives me nuts.

So, I was at the dealer last week and asked to try the PCM in an 06 Cayenne and low and behold, my road appears in the PCM on that Cayenne. Navteq shows no update for my DVD.

Doesn't this suck!

So, it appears that I have what is considered 2.1 update A and there is an update B. Also, the data DVD is label May 2005 for the new PCM where mine is 2004.

The dealer is ordering the update B and I am going to try to install it. I will keep you all posted. No gaurantees as it may require new hardware but I will try anything to update my $3000 yellow screen with a pretty arrow.

I'm not worthy.. it isn't Shakespeare!!

And, I actually changed mine up a little bit.. but at least you can paste it into word and not have to think it up. I thought about sending it FedEx but will do that next letter if not replied to before too long. Wonder if Peter will act like this emoticon:

SEND YOUR LETTERS.. especially in light of jpr993's post.

UPDATE

Letter from PCNA arrived yesterday dated February 14th.

"We are in receipt of your letter dated January 29, 2006. You express that you will be sadly disappointed if Porsche Cars does not update and keep the mapping information current for Porsche Cayenne owners who use three (3) CDs for their navigational unit. We truly understand your concern and have passed your letter to the appropriate individuals in management for their formal review.

Since this matter will be further examined and a determination as to the necessity of any updates will be made, I encourage others who you may know that share your circumstances to correspond with us in a timely fashion.

Once again we regret that at this time we cannot apprise you of any positive news regarding this matter. However should we receive any updates I will personally let you know.

Thank you for your continued patience."

I see this as progress in two ways. Firstly, the matter has left the arena of the "Customer commitment Group" to the "management" level. Secondly, she is basically dropping a hint that now is the time to write in - COLLECTIVELY to help persuade those reviewing this that updates are absolutely necessary.

Plus she sent this letter to me on Valentine's day - so maybe she is feelin' me!

I would address all letters going out to PCNA regarding this matter to
Ms. Janice P. Howard
Specialist
Customer Commitment Group

She will be the one most likely to see a pattern here and also an individual who will make sure our letters are passed on to management.

Good luck.

P.S. I am anxiously waiting for Lewis to cut and paste Ms. Howard's response with some tired sarcasm.

No, I got an ambiguous response from the Customer Commitment Department and it just acknowledges receipt. They state that they'll phone or write me in 15 BUSINESS days. The letter wasn't from Kooser's friend, either. No, it was VJ's golf relative that works at PCNA headquarters: Ms. Sewmattie Singh!
She states that they will investigate my "issue" and tell me what they're going to do about my "concerns".

Man, I feel better. I think that's what the Hawaii Dept. of Insurance said in their letter. Hey, LTC, I'm feeling like new CD's will arrive in 15 BUSINESS days!

This was my first response as well and my dealer's service manager contacted me to help "resolve" the issue.

After describing the real issue at hand to the service manager he then responds back to PCNA.

Also, this just means that letter no.2 needs to be sent to the same person with a request to be reviewed by a "higher level" representative.

It was then that I got a more encouraging response.
All I can say is more letters, better chance for them to HAVE to take note.

Default Finally sent the letter

Letter finally sent to Janice.

Emphasis placed on updating data . Also emphasized diminished value of the Cayenne......would you want to invest in an '03 or '04 CTT w/PCM knowing that the data is poor and that there will be no future updates Would that be good for CPO business .Ooppps, look at me, I thought that there would be updates on some regular basis

You wouldn't.....wait a minute....is this a trick question?

The CPO business model is based on rapid depreciation based on overproduction, thus feeding the pipeline for the hoardes of first time Porsche owners. A vehicle with diminished value due to outdated features only helps the depreciation.

It's OK. You're amongst friends, especially here in the leper colony of Porsche ownership.
