Hi all, I'm trying to code in a back up camera on my 2005 CTT using the stock pcm 2.1. I have vcds and the hex v2 cable. The module I need to read is 37 Navigation. I can see many modules without jumping cables but not this one. I got a obd2 extension but all combinations I've tried didn't work. Any idea what pin is the navigation module and what cables to jump in order to make it work? Thank you.

Thanks in advance and I hope I will receive an answer from someone using vcds and willing to help

Hi, I am also looking to use VCDS or find any dealer to code cruise control. Did you have any luck?

I bought an extension cable (£10 - amazon) stripped a section iof outer in the centre - identified which cores were pin 3 and 15 my pushing a pin through the insulation and buzzing to connector, Cut 3 and 15 and soldered them crossed (not bridged) . I have a genuine VCDS cable from about 2009 with the crossed extension on my 2005 V6 I was able to reset the service indication and access a lot more (all?) modules than without the adaptor. Thanks Guys for all your previous work on this, made it easy for me and luckily not too many faults to resolve.

Notes:-
Remove the semicolon from the VCDS 'autoscan.txt' file to add cayenne to the vehicle list
Instrument cluster adaption channel 02 to zero for service reset - obviously once you have completed a service!

Buy a genuine VCDS lead from ross-tech - where would we be without the development work they put in, buying a cable funds it and unlike many things these days, just a one off payment not a subscription forever.....

I read the forum from beginning to end. if I understand it correctly on the cayenne 957 (2009) Diesel, in order to work with all the modules via VCDS, you need to connect the PIN 3+7+15 cable, is that right?

@Stringbag Thanks for the thread. I have a genuine VAG COM cable - this one:

https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/ol...rfaces/huc.php

I bought this adapter which apparently swaps pin 3 and 7
https://m.gendan.co.uk/product_PORRED.html

But it's not working. The customer service guy said It won't work because my cayenne is a 2007 957 but that seems to be nonsense. The transmission module is read fine without the adapter.

Is his adapter crappy?

Default VCDS and Service Reset

Finally have VCDS working, but when trying to perform a service reset, it looks like I’m missing a “label file” for the Instruments module (address 17).

Anyone have this or know where I might find it?

2008 Cayenne S

Here's what VCDS shows for that module:
Address 17: Instruments Labels: None
Part No: 7L5 920 975 C
Component: KOMBIINSTRUMENT RB8 5610
Coding: 0015204
Shop #: WSC 128452 000 00000

I'm loving this thread. When I first suggested the use of VCDS on here just over 10 years ago there were some that were interested but some Diehard Durametric guys branded me a Heretic, claimed I was going to mess up my CTTS. I did end up buying Durametric and continued to experiment with VCDS. I still use both but overall I still like the format of VCDS over Durametric, although Durametric has come a long way in the last 10yrs.

Question is - Has anyone figured out the Measuring Block ID Numbers?? I'd really like to know what block IDs to use for what engine functions to data log, but as it doesn't let us select (at least 9PA) the Adv Meas Value with the list it would be nice to know the block ID's. I'm going through them 1 by 1 but sh***t.

My turn to add some info / confusion into this thread. I have VCDS Hex+Can usb which I have had for some years for use with my Audi cars. I bought a Touareg two years ago and the cable has been equally beneficial. I have modified the cable by connecting an extension with 15 (from the VCDS cable side) to 3 (on the vehicle side).
Appreciating that you can only scan modules that are fitted, for comparison as both vehicles have similar options (Air Suspension, Sunroof etc). Appreciate that PDCC, PCM and the like have no VW equivalents and the engine is not from the VW stable.
Autoscans on the Touareg registered these modules with the standard cable 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 34, 37, 42, 46, 52, 55, 56, 62, 68, 69, 6C, 72, 76, 77
Autoscans on the MY2009 GTS registered these modules with the standard cable 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 15, 16, 19, 34, 36, 69, 6C, 6D, 76
Autoscans on the MY2009 GTS with the modified cable 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 34, 36, 46, 69, 6C, 6D, 76

So, the first thing is that the 4.8 Ltr V8 hasn't registered in either configuration so I can only assume that as is should, the Porsche nature of the module is blocking it.
The 15 to 3 cable mod does something as modules 17, 22 and 46 are not visible with the standard cable.
The autoscan doesn't react to CAN for vehicle selection whereas on the slightly earlier Touareg (MY2008), it does.
I noted that when doing the autoscan with the drivers door and bonnet / hood open and ignition on, the power supply I fitted was consuming 19.1 amps at 12.8 volts. Serious consumption!

Do I need to further modify the cable or is it as functional as the system allows?
Has anyone managed to scan the Engine electronics for the facelift 4.8 Ltr GTS motor?

In my VCDS autoscan of a MY2009 GTS I have no labels for Addresses 06, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 36, 46, 6C, despite VCDS connecting and providing part number details etc so likely you will be missing more than one label file.

At the risk of being seen as a heretic, my experiences with VCDS on 957 versions are uninspiring. I can see that a 955 diesel would be a great candidate but so far my outcomes with a petrol 957 don't give me cause for jubilation. Fully accept that VCDS is not sold nor supported for Porsche and I have enough cars where it is excellent. When I compare the results I get from the Touareg and the GTS, the outcome is underwhelming.

Having spent two full days trying all the tricks that I know, there remains a significant number of Porsche modules unaccessible and many VAG common modules where labels aren't available even though connection is made. No fault on the part of VCDS, it is literally just not the tool for the job.

I have ordered a iCarSoft POR V3 which appears to do most of what I need. I have identified a number of existing faults with VCDS so not a lost cause but it seems like a wasted exercise if there is a lack of confidence that the health check is complete.

Just to keep the info in one place, I received my iCarScan POR V3 and after the normal software update etc have completed an Autoscan. Personally I found it easy enough to use and a step up in not needing a laptop as positives. A number of minor negatives but they could be just a locality thing.

As a 10 year user of VCDS, I have mixed feelings. Needs to be said you get rusted on to the way VCDS operates and displays info so at this early stage I can't say one provides more info than the other as fault descriptions can be supplemented with onboard info with the POR V3 whereas that info is displayed up front in VCDS.

Anyway, the POR V3 logged the intermittent Alternator fault under Vehicle electrical system and Tow bar / trailer faults for indicators as I have the tyre carrier number plate light supplied via the 7 pin plug.

What it did NOT identify under Autoscan was a HVAC air flap motor fault and four minor door / window issues in central conveniences that were found with VCDS. It is possible that I may be able to access those modules another way so I'm open at the moment as to whether the tool does all it says. It is an ingrained expectation that an autoscan will collect all extant faults and if it doesn't then you just don't have that confidence.

So far neither system has picked up the chassis system failure. The light comes on intermittently and then is gone on next start. You would expect a red warning to be logged and remain as a fault until cleared. Again, this is an issue that may be able to be accessed via another means so final comments will have to wait. Right at this moment it seems that I will need to have both diag tools but who knows?

On my MY09 GTS with most options, it seems that the POR V3 is the only scanner to be able to access the
Engine (DME),
Porsche stability management and
Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control.
This is as expected.

VCDS is the only one able to access
03 – ABS brakes
16 – Steering wheel
46 – Central convenience
6C – Rear view camera
76 – Parking aid (sensors? camera?)
68 – Wipers electronics
This isn't a great outcome for iCarSoft I would think. I don't know how far Porsche has screwed down the modules from 15 years ago but checking ABS brakes for fault codes is pretty high on my list.

Both scanners will access 15 common modules which is a small blessing.

How do the other scan options rate?
