Does anyone know the accessible control modules and their addresses for the 957 with VCDS?

I have vcds-lite unlicensed at the moment and trying to determine what additional functionality I'll get with the licensed VCDS-Lite version - at the moment with an ebay cable with pins 3, 7, 15 bridged I can read the Auto Trans, Transfer Case, Instrument Cluster and the Mirror Controller.

I do not pirate software and this is only to determine what VCDS to get. When I asked Ross-Tech about buying a full 3-vin version from them they said not supported here's a link to Duramteric. But this can't set the auto-headlight coding. So I'm suspecting the $99 version won't give me access either but want to check first before I order.

With the lite and the generic cable you won't be able to do CAN, I have the full version 3 vin, I can look at all the modules besides the ecm (v8 turbo) and the Headlights.

Dont go soldering your expensive vcds cable!
google OBD pinout to make sure that you connect the right wires.

Can anyone tell me which pin 15 connects to 3 and 7..is it pin 15 from the VW side or the Porsche side?

Just to be clear, you don’t need to do anything at all to get VCDS working with DME and transmission modules. just plug the VCDS cable straight in.

this is because a GENUINE VCDS cable has two k-line pins 7 and 15.

the cayenne uses 7 for the DME/transmission and 3 for the rest.

So,
You need to EITHER swap pins 3 and 7 over via an adapter like I did (because I didn’t want to mess with either my Cayenne wiring or my genuine cable wiring), OR connect 15 (from the VCDS cable side) to 3 (on the vehicle side).

counterfeit VCDS cables only have one k-line (usually).

Not working for me...guess i wired it wrong....so pin 3 from the female side of the adapter that plugs into the Cayenne to pin 7 male adapter that plugs into the VCDS cable to the computer....pin 15 is not used?

Thanks Bob.

Hi Bob
have you tried it with no adapter at all?
is it a real VCDS cable?

Hi...yes the VCDS cable works fine...green light comes on and I can use it as normal...just when I plug in the adapter the light goes red...think I've wired it wrong...need a pin out of the original connector I guess.
But I'm thinking pin 1 is the top left pin on the female adapter??
My adapter cable is identical to yours..
And yes it's the real VCDS cable I bought with the software.

So, I modified my splitter cable to see if I could get all the modules talking in one go.
Success! As per my post above, all you need to do is connect 15 (from the VCDS cable side) to 3 (on the vehicle side). Simple! (forget 7 was ever mentioned...).

This is what I got on my autoscan (mine is an 03 - later years have more modules and therefore a bigger list - I have made my autoscan specific to my vehicle) (nb I have removed my VIN & cable serial number from the scan):
