I'm reading elsewhere, that you should count it while facing it pins (not from the perspective of the rear (where the wires come out of the plug).
I suspect your locations are correct if labelling the port (not the plug)

That would make:
Pin 3 = your Pin 6
Pin 7 = your Pin 2
Pin 15 = your Pin 10.
Yes, my labelled photo is correct.

If you look anywhere - this is a good reference.
https://m.gendan.co.uk/article_3.html
you will see the pin out of the receiver end - the female end in the car.

Im not having much luck getting VCDS lite to talk to any modules on my 05 CTT aside from DME/transmission using an old KKL cable i had laying around.
I am using the following string in the autoscan.txt from earlier in this thread:
9P,Porsche Cayenne,01,02,03,05,06,08,09,11,13,15,16,17,18,19,1C,22,29,32,34,36,37,3 9,3C,46,47,55,56,57,64,65,68,69,6C,6D,6E,75,76,77

The cable originally has both pins 7 and 15 connected to the board (K & L lines).
I Tried bridging 3 & 15, disconnecting 15 and connecting 3 then bringing 3, 7 & 15 all together and the best i can get is this:
VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2

Do i need to pay to register VCDS lite? Seems like others in this thread got it working with the free version. Also not convinced that paying will sort my issue.

Am i missing something?

Would like to get communication with all modules for future maintenance but right now I'm trying to get into the TPMS module to recode for larger than stock tyres.

I think that the problem is in the (blue ebay?) old cable that simply doesn't have the proper hardware to handle the communication.

My recommendation has always been and original VCDS cable. It's a riskless investment, if You pay 200-250$/€ for a used one, You can pretty much keep it for 5 years and still get the same money when selling it. I mean, I bought mine about ten years ago for 220€ and yesterday someone put one up for sale for 250€ and it was sold in under an hour.

I used a VCDS KeyII-USB cable plugged into a Y cable. One connector on the Y I'd jumpered as per the instructions, the other went to my Cayenne. I was able to reset the SRI which was my only goal so far.
Already had VCDS as I have a 2003 Audi S8.

Did you end up finding a solution? I’m having the same problem. While using the cheap blue cable with an extension that I shorted 3,7,15 in all ways described before, I have access to engine and transmission modules but the rest won’t connect.
I’m about order the original cable unless someone has a solution.

Cheers

I was happy to see that I could possible get my VCDS cable working on my Cayenne. I've been working on VW/Audis for many years and always had my VCDS(VAG-COM) cable handy.

I was able to access the Engine and Transmission modules with my cable as-is. After reading this thread and whatever else I could find, I bought an extension harness with plans to modify it like Stringbag did.
But... I was looking at my VCDS cable, and realized it doesn't have a pin in #3 spot. Why would it not? Am I screwed?

I wonder why that site doesn't list pin 3 in any protocol, or what it does?

Thanks Hopsis, sorry for the late reply. Life is pretty hectic these days!
Bugger on needing a genuine VCDS cable. I guess if i have to fork out for new hardware I'll need to do some research first on whether to stick with VCDS or get a durametric instead. I was just being hopeful I could use one of my many existing OBD cables.

Never found a solution. TBH i haven't tried since. Per hopsis above it seems the generic ebay cables don't work.

Hello guys, I'm new in the forum!
I have the VCDS 17.2 that I used to use with VAG cars. My interface is a chinese one with rework made. I opened the interface and made a shunt between pin 3 and pin 7, it works like a charm on my Cayenne 957 diesel!

Afternoon everyone. So today i manage to scan my 955 with vcds. I noticed that with the hex can cable i can see adresses 01,02 almost the rest of them they don't appear. Connecting the gendan cable i manage to get the rest of the modules those where set but not the 01,02. I will try tomorrow again wiring pin 03 to pin 15 and see how it goes. Next step to find out if vcds cable works with durametric as i managed to download it.After all that time to install Cruise control as i already have bought a stalk from Q7

those readings are with Hex Can

On a separate, off-topic, note, I'm really not liking that "Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)" code.

OK I bought a VCDS Hex V2 cable instead of the old VAGCOM and I seem to be able to communicate with all modules
Didn't need to modify the cable at all.

Does anybody have a list of measuring blocks for the cayenne v8? Specifically I'm trying to see cooling fan duty cycle to track down a running warm issue but not having any luck.
I tried the generic list on rosstech site which says cooling is all in groups 130-140, which are all blank for me.
Google bought up some lists for other Touareg engines (none of which were helpful) but nothing for the VW or Cayenne V8's.

Anybody know where I can see live data for the cooling fans?

Default Update on cruise control stalk

Good afternoon everyone. So I managed to install a cruise control from q7 on my 995 S without removing steering wheel and etc. Connection made from pin 5 to pin a38 on ecu (was already connected on ecu so it was easy to put wire with wire) my issue now is that I can't code it to work. I've send mail to 4 different dealers in uk to ask them price wise so they can code it for no one answer back to me after Almost two weeks. If anyone has a fitted cruise control i would much appreciated if I can the coding commands for can gateway and engine so I can finally code mine and make it work with VCDS. Thanks in advance and I hope I will receive an answer from someone using vcds and willing to help
