Porsche CD2 to IPod integration
Has anyone intergrated an IPod into their factory audio system. I have a 1992 968 with the factory CD2 (cost $1347 back in 1992). I want to keep the car original but I want to get my Ipod integrated to the system. Anyone done this?
Thanks

Just changing the head unit alone will improve the overall sound of the system without changing the speakers. Although changing the speakers would help improve it even more.
BTW great color combo.

I think that car is just alittle to old for a direct ipod input. There are some ipod adapters that plug into the cd changer input and give you a direct input but I dont think they make it for that car. I dont know if that unit was cd changer capable.
Cobalt is right, replaceing the radio is easy. I had one in my shop this weekend and put a headunit with blue tooth and ipod adapter in it. You have to do no modifications at all to put the radio in.
The amount of money you would spend on an ipod adapter if you can find one, would be the same price as a radio with direct ipod controlls and blue tooth. There are alot of radios ouit there with multi color display so you can match you interior lighting color and a good installer can put that radio in, in about 1/2 hour. It will also retain the factory amp.
When you sell it or want it back to stock all you have to do is take the new stereo out and plug the original back in and you are done. Takes about 5 min.

Oem car audio from 21 years ago wasn't the greatest but then car owners weren't as concerned with car audio quality then either.
Your unit was manufactured by Alpine also.
Question though, while anything you get today will be a vast improvement, how critical are you going to be considering your going to be listening to MP3's via your iPod?
Or are you planning on recording wave files?
