iPod / iPhone dock mod...
After installing the CDR-220 with iPod / iPhone connection from www.beckerautosound.com I immediately was not happy with the iPod connection dangling about. Then after seeing a post here about an S4 being parted out bought a spare ashtray assembly from it. It arrived and I set about to mod the ashtray into a iPod / iPhone dock!
In the first pic below you can see the hole I cut for the connector to be inserted. I made the hole using a dremel and then fine tuned with a file and razor blade. Took many passes of adjust, test fit, <rinse and repeat> to get it so it held snuggly. Also, I angled the horizontal portion of the cutout so when the connector is inserted it will angle the iPhone toward the front of the car.
In the second pic is a view of the ashtray assembly showing where I cut out a notch underneath on the front edge so the cable/connector could be angled, see info for first pic for the reasoning.
In the thrid pic the cutout is done and doing a dry fit with a support grabbed from an old iPod dock I had laying around.
In the fourth pic is a better view of the cutout noted in the second picture as well as it shows removal of the lighter itself. Wont be needed and also caused issues insert the completed assembly with the cable and such.
In the fifth pic the completed assembly has been inserted, angle of the connector adjusted and awaiting drying of the JB Weld to keep the angle where I wanted it. The plastic was to keep JB Weld going where it should not be and the pen is there simply to exert pressure so nothing moves while it dries. Alas, forgot to take a pic of it dry fit prior to JB Weld so that will have to wait. Suffice to say it looks very factory OEM! Will post pics later today of the finished product.
The only thing which is blocked is the view of the clock and the right **** for the rear air conditioning unit, rarely used and I wear a watch so no biggie on not being able to see the clock!

I just routed the cable for my iPhone and my Aux source into my center console. Works great and there is nothing that lets you know that anything other than change is in there.
