arternator whine

Default arternator whine

hello people
i have a 99 996 coupe, it has the hifi option.
im getting an intermittent whine through the stereo, radio or cd it's there .I've cleaned all connections to the amp.

any help would be appreciated, i do not have stereo removal tools

Old remedy was to put a 1000 microfarad electrolytic capacitor across the power lead and ground lead to the radio,

Along with what Silvertarga said, It's usually a problem in the ground somewhere.

That's nice to hear. I guess the whining wasn't as loud as I imagined.
