That's nice! What color is the car? Love the red stitching on the dash as well. Ah, I see the white. Nice car!

yep, carrera white on black/red. picked it up over the winter. the color combo and interior spec sold me (amongst the usual factors to own a turbo).

And a manual, too. Love it! Great find. Got mine over the winter as well; know you're loving that car!

Added the numeric SSK with Function First cable ends. The feel of the shifts is really incredible, enjoying it so far.

Nice. I only did the Numeric shifter.

Did not want to mess with the actual cables. Wondering how much difference in changing the ends there is, in combination with the Numeric.

I've been thinking of this upgrade lately. Why the Function First cables vs. the Numeric cables? Considering my car has the factory Short Shifter (XCZ) already, would this be a good upgrade? I'm sure some do the Numeric SSK for the short shift only.

Oh man I had an 87 Supra Turbo with the targa top and pearl white paint. I have not thought about that car for a long time. Loved that thing.

Hard for me to say since I did them together. It definitely feels crisper but might have gotten some of that from just the numeric SSK. I should have done one then the other to really get a feel for value add.

I went with the FF cable ends really just to save some money. It seems most complaints come from the stock cable ends being plastic so transitioning to metal ends accomplishes the same as adding Numeric cables (in my mind). My car didn't have the factory SSK so I can't give you a 1:1 analysis. I have seen people who went from factory --> numeric SSK still favoring the numeric setup. I can say the Numeric setup is top notch, incredible race quality and very impressive. It's not cheap but you definitely get the value back in quality of manufacturing.

Sadly AEM no longer make the harness, so I returned the 708 and picked up an OpenFlash Tablet. Using TunerPro for tuning. Still getting acclimated to the tables exposed in the definition file.

I had just the shifter for a few months before adding the cables and I felt the shifter alone was only a subtle upgrade, whereas the cables made a huge and immediate night-and-day difference. Controversial opinion but I kind of think the rave reviews on just the shifter have an element of placebo effect. The shift lever in the stock unit floats just as freely as the Numeric, and the cables are the part that actually interacts with the transmission and transmit feedback, so it doesn't make sense to me how swapping out one free floating rigid stick for another free floating rigid stick makes that much of a difference (outside the shift height, of course, the shorter height does change the effort a little).

So I flew down to southern CA, picked her up, drove 450 miles back north—after a flat and a chipped windshield—got fresh rubber, washed her up, and here we are back in the bay. Still in awe, I’m finally an owner!
