I bet in the next gen more people will still buy pdk than manual unfortunately .

They give a ram air effect . Preuninger said the rs makes more power at the top end due to a ram air type effect .
Without ram air the r actually puts more power to the wheels than the rs as the manual tranny has less drivetrain losses than the pdk[nerd mode off]

Perhaps I am being a bit of optimistic, but I think a lot of the PDK only guys don't want to admit that their >$150K car has become boring and that lap times aren't as important to fluffing their insecurities as some other things could be. The smart ones are dumping their PDKs now, I think the 991 GT3 prices will drop, as will the 997 GT3 prices. All of this shooting up happened after the 991 GT3 was announced PDK only.

It's hard to please the purists, we bitch, moan, and bashing Porsche for not making the GT3 manual but when they listen and make GT3RS manual we called it overprice, not good enough for track, not fast enough lap time. As for prices of 991GT3, it will be lower and trickle down to 997GT3. Now I wanna see GT4RS in production with turbocharge 6.

The 997 RS' should go up in value much more because they are essentially the last manual RS'.

From Auto Express UK

Preuninger also revealed that the 911 R’s new six-speed manual gearbox is likely to be offered in the second generation of the 991 GT3. “I can certainly imagine this gearbox in the GT3,” he said. “There is some overlap, with the 911 R for purists and the GT3 RS for track day fans, and then the GT3 in the middle. Right now it’s just with PDK, but I can certainly imagine gen-2 GT3 getting this manual transmission.”

What grinds my gears is that mere mortals who haven't been on a list for 2+ years can't get one...but yet AP talks about how it's for the enthusiasts/purists...I guess all 918 of them. This latest scarcity strategy is starting to **** me off.

Do you know what is dime a dozen now? 458 italia. High mileage ones are now trading for less than 200K. I feel like that is a much better deal than to play this non-sense scarcity game with porsche, especially if you have a 997.2 gt3 or rs.

I have a deposit for an one at a dealer who says that there is no 918 requirement. I still am hoping for an allocation and I'm pretty excited about the car. I am one of those guys who prefers not having a wing for a DD car. The only thing I am not happy about with the 991R is the fact that its 0-60 is not very remarkable for the 500 HP.

All how you see it. I see all 997 gen values softening due to the fact that a 6 speed will be available in the GT3 again and it will remain na. I see 991 RS values coming down because (1) there are 60 more on the way (2) the ones available are not flying off the lots at the current stealership adm rates (3) ther is going to be competition for the RS with all the "enthusiast" 918 guys flipping their Rs.

And I highly doubt the GT3 will be fitted with a manual. Doing so makes the 911R not all that special. If I bought a 911R at 185-200k and they released a GT3 with a manual I would be seriously pissed.
I think Porsche has demonstrated time and time again they couldn't care less if they **** us off and chit on us. We just keep licking their boots and fawning all over them. I for one am close to calling it quits.

What do you think all those R's will be flipped for?
I see the 997.2 RS's being the last RS with manual trans, Mezger, hydraulic steering, smaller / short wheelbase body (w/o 4 wheel steering) that retains the dynamics of a 911.
The 991 gen, if nothing else is an affirmation that the 997 (RS in particular) was the winning formula, representing the last of an era of Porsche GT cars when they were still relatively simple with a singular purpose. As AP pointed out in the EVO interview, the 997/996 GT cars answered to both the purists and track rats with 1 model. Hence I think the 997 RS's values will continue to be strong in the short term and will likely separate from the pack going forward.
