They already said that the 911r isn't for the track too. Oh and they saved weight by going to a manual

+1!

I'm a bit dissappointed but not surprised at the spec of the car; GT3 with an RS motor and some 6pd box that came from who knows where, its still got RWS etc... and north of 185k ...

give me a 996 RS anyday.

do you guys think this will de-value the prices of the older GT3s? since there will be a manual gearbox

You guys are fancy. Mine is 0 options with light flywheel. Only porsche would change $4k for an option like that... and it might be less expensive to add AFTER delivery!

nope - what it will do is increase the 'actual' price of this car in the same way the new RS is getting hiked.

I guess they must have "dusted off" the 6sp manual they abandoned for the 991 GT3?

So...

will they offer it as an option on the .2 GT3s? AP seemed to suggest that an MT was not compatible with the pursuit of lap times on track ...

after watching the EVO vid, i have to say i like the way AP described the car and what they've done with it. and i prefer bourbon and beer over wine and cheese.

how does this car share the rs motor but not have the side intakes Porsche claimed were necessary for the rs?

could it just be styling and marketing? just asking...

different intake, they probably took the intake from the GT3 and plopped it onto the RS motor ... more than likely a bolt on "shoe in" fit ... recall how much common componentry the engines share...

They had too many spare 911 turbo bodies and they've decided to use them in the RS. That required a different intake and routing, but nothing major.

Now I haven't driven a 991 GT3RS,but AP was saying that the induction noise is a bit different than say the 991 GT3 because of the new intake.

With all that said, the RS intake had nothing to do with more power, they've proven once again that they could easily obtain the same power level with the traditional intake that takes air through the engine lid.

Why would anyone besides a collector buy the 911R? I love the manual mated to the 4.0 motor, but this basically a GT style car.

And I highly doubt the GT3 will be fitted with a manual. Doing so makes the 911R not all that special. If I bought a 911R at 185-200k and they released a GT3 with a manual I would be seriously pissed.
