Not a bad looking GT3 for the miles and a “story”. I would drive and enjoy this car until the wheels falls off.

I used this website extensively when looking. as reliable as it gets. also, scsage is really good. you can buy a membership for it and it gives you even more information. If you are actively in the market for a car, I recommend buying the membership as in some instances, you can get contact information for owners.

Had this issue on my RS. Fixed it with the mentioned sensor. Cost me less then 500 all said and done. There are multiple threads in main section which go into great detail about the FAL system. I'd recommend reading those threads to learn about the system, its components and associated costs.

On a different topic. Drove 991.2 S MT yesterday (I was considering to buy 991.2 GTS 2/4 MT). And it is nice (Porsche did a really good job with turbos to have experience as close as possible to previous NA generations). But still not that raw / clean feel compared, e.g., to my GT4 (that I’m selling). I like 991 interior (in contrast to 992 BTW) and Guards Red (or other bright colors). So the question is whether to get 991.2 GT3 MT Guards Red, LWB, PCCB, red stitching etc. with minimal mileage or go the 997.2 GT3 route (~35k miles, Carrara white, full leather, PCCB). The latter will be ~$35k cheaper. I know, folks here are biased but will still ask - if you had experience with both, which one do you like more and why?

997.2 GT3 every single time. The 991 generation is faster and smoother, but lacking in rawness and character. The 997.2 is my favorite of all the generations as an overall package.

I'm going to skip all of the obvious comparisons between the 991 and 997 and mention that I hate the electronic parking brake in the 991 and later cars.

Here’s an unpopular opinion - 991.2 gt3 all the way if you can swing it. It’s a much better car without question. Obviously this is the 997 forum so everyone will tell you the 997 is better but objectively, that’s just not true.

When these 997s were selling for 40-50% less than they are now (not that long ago), no one was arguing that the 997 was better than. 991.2. So while the line has blurred somewhat due to the 997 hype (and the COVID effect), which has driven up the 997 market, the 991.2 is on a different level as an overall package, performance, usability, and it’s much newer with a better chassis.

You should drive both before you spend the dough and see what you prefer.

I agree. Objectively 991.2 is the better car. But, the 997 may tickle the feels a bit more, though this is quite subjective.

This is a tough choice even though I haven't driven at 991 I really do like how it looks inside and out. I really believe you can't go wrong either way - both great GT3s.

Yes, it’s reliable. I also have VIN/option list for all 997 GT3’s, so if you want something more specific than what is provided there, feel free to ask. Happy to provide.

If you want to put extra miles (3-5K miles per year) on it and have some additional comfort, 991.2. If it’s going to be driven 2k miles a year on backroads and as an occasion car and you want a bit more feel, 997. I personally prefer looks of 997, but engine of 991.2. Also prefer buckets in the 991 over the 997 buckets. Personal preference. Can’t go wrong either way. If I had the opportunity to spec a new 991.2/992 GT3, I’d have a hard time saying no (by that I mean I would do it). If a perfect spec 991.2 came up, I’d also probably do it, but there’s a $50k delta between 997 and 991.2. I also genuinely enjoy the more analog experience the 997 provides. Some of my attachment to the 997 is nostalgia, which can’t be quantified in this equation.

997 market cooling off little bit:

What you guys think is a good buying price for a 997 RS 4.0?
- 997 RS 4.0, 19.000 miles, used but clean good condition, white, 3 owner
