The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

C’mon. 9x is totally reasonable. In 2019. And you don’t hire a $900/hr Biglaw attorney for your boilerplate one-pagers?? Crazy talk.
Seriously tho, it looks like he hired a proper outfit for this listing. Should do well as long as he doesn’t chime in. It’s no Gold Level Joe listing, but still.

The last 3.8 VIN-wise for North America is WP0AC2A9XBS783601 (build date of February 1, 2011). According to vinanalytics however, WP0AC2A9XBS783596 has a slightly later production date (February 9, 2011) despite being an earlier VIN.
The last 4.0 VIN is WP0AF2A9XBS785713 (build date of December 1, 2011). This is the only North American 4.0 built in December 2011, which was the last production month for this model.
You can see the 3.8 here and the 4.0 here. You need to play around with it a little bit. Set the year to 2011 and set the VIN’s to descending order.

Great catch. That thread was a train wreck but as I commented in it, if the owner takes the time to clean the car up and present it properly, I think he can still realize full value. In a few days I guess we'll all see if I was right. I suspect that at some point someone will comment on BaT with a link to the aforementioned thread. If so, I hope it does not derail the auction. The car deserves better.
.... I also found JerseyDirts comments on DEM interesting.... Seems to me that hiding the 3k NVH with DEM is not such a good thing (in other words celebrating that you can ignore a 3k buzz in your engine because you have DEM, seems weird to me)

What do you mean by that? Why is isolating the NVH not a good thing?
i don’t think it’s that common. Sometimes, u can have a porous cylinder head or crankcase. When that happens, coolant can leak thru those areas. I’ve read about it on a few threads here.

GM.RS posted the link to that train wreck RL thread, so that's out there. I agree it should still bring a good price at those miles,... but at least now the new owner will know who he's dealing with, at the time of purchase & transport.
Looks like the owner/seller met his consigner at something called All-Things-Land-Cruiser?
.... I also found JerseyDirts comments on DEM interesting.... Seems to me that hiding the 3k NVH with DEM is not such a good thing (in other words celebrating that you can ignore a 3k buzz in your engine because you have DEM, seems weird to me)

3k NVH isolation seems like a super irrelevant reason for DEM. These cars make noises and vibrations. I for one don’t consider that a good reason for changing engine mounts. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that vibration.

I agree. And the NVH is always there,... so Glen, maybe a better way to put it is: why is the fact that we already know the NVH is there (especially the 3k mark as JerseyDirt said),.... a justification for DEM. Answer: It is not.

Now you guys really have me confused. Isn't the reason these (and all street) cars come with flexible engine mounts because manufacturers try to isolate from the chassis some of the NVH produced by an engine? If all NVH was desirable, then these cars would come with solid engine mounts. I don't think the point of any engine mount, including DEM, is to hide the fact that NVH exists. It's just to isolate the driver from some of its unpleasant aspects. The standard mounts do this too, just supposedly not as well. This is true not only at 3k RPMs in the GT3, but at all RPMs. If the DEM eliminate some of the buzzing as was mentioned in the post above, and yet still offer additional rigidity over the standard mounts when the car is pushed hard, what about that could be bad? Why do you think feeling additional buzzing at 3k rpms is a good thing? Sorry to hijack the thread, but I value your opinions and the topic was bought up.

Trying to following along....what does NVH stand for?
Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. In this particular case, I think vibration is the issue.

I have DEM in my .2 RS (all RS’ come standard with it in the second gen) and didn’t have it in my old .2 GT3. Didn’t really notice a difference regarding NVH and I had them both at the same time for a bit. Maybe I’m not sensitive enough to notice a difference or I didn’t push them to the very ragged edge. Then again I’m comparing this option from two different models.
