The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#3721
^^^ A lot of it seems to be a clear lack of detailing. washed & then driven to the "photo shoot" wet. All the pics with spots, lint, etc all in/around the car.
Not at all well prepared for sale. But that seems par for the course, and a indicator, when the seller also decided to leave old tires on the car & push that purchase to the next guy.
For such easy things to do, I cannot for the life of me understand why folks would decide not to thoroughly prep the car inside/out for the auction, and put new tires on it.
BUT,... to me that ALSO seems like it presents an opportunity for a auctioned low price purchase, on what seems to be a street driven car....
12,172 miles / 544.4 operating hours = average driven speed of 22.36 mph. That's very low. Maybe this one was indeed a grocery get'r.
Question for all the 997.1 GT3 guys,... the rear deck carpet has the horseshoe outline for the placement of a roll cage (pics 81 - 83). Were they all like that from the factory? I don't have that in my 997.2

The black 997.1 GT3 was listed for sale last September. Guessing the guy ended up trading it in somewhere and then it got auctioned off. Who knows why. It is basically a one owner car as it was sold very early to it's second owner.
Hope the auction does well, but I am guessing it won't go much above $80-83k even with the low miles. Paint looks like it has seen better days, front license plate bracket, painted front lip, interior in ok condition. All of that is very easy to fix with a solid quality detail and some replacement parts. But unfortunately it looks like this car will be sold without that and will probably not do well due to it. When these cars get poorly represented and they don't sell for $80k, I think people immediately think that the entire market is coming down when really it is just one car.

I can see that car as a grocery getter, cars and coffee and friday night cruiser. Looks like a lot of time spent entering, exiting and reversing the car as can be seen on the driver's seat wear.
The horeshoe outline is stock on all cars although, not really visible until you pop the cherry on it then it's noticable. Mine were not visible when I got the car but need to know me went and pulled them up to see what was underneath. Never looks the same once you pull them.
The rust on both door hinge bolts along with the rusty undercarriage makes me worried. Stored outside for a bit? Who knows.
Hard pass on that car. They can't put a tiny bit of cash into the car to make it buy worthy says they also can't put cash into the car to maintain it.

Looks too new for the rest of the car's condition
these panels look like they've been out of the car. Pretty beat up.
This panel has been out of the car. Look at the window switches and how they are so recessed
That's a lot of rub marks on the center console. either this car has a different driver ever 1/2hour or a race seat.
Besides the rusty bolt, is that red I'm seeing or is it just a reflection?
Is the paint cracking under the wing.
Rusted lugs and scratches on the wheels from a socket. A lot of scratches. Also center cap looks like it's seen better days.
razor cuts in the paint from poor clearbra application.
Why is all this dirt in this sunroof channel?
I'm not even going to get into the driver's seat, which I'm beginning to think it's not the original 12k mile seat but rather a replacement purchased used.
This is all speculation so please don't come and bash me if it's your car. Also the car just sold at auction Last month so there is some sort of story.

Took just under two weeks to sell this 997 RS 4.0, I believe the ask was 450k USD, priced right so it sold quick IMO.

After looking at all the close up pics of the black car, ya think it may have been under water?
that seal around the sun roof looks suspicious and the rusty door hinge bolt too...

Good catch, I think Carfax also showed Texas registration. My local dealer mentioned they are very careful when purchasing cars from areas that have flooding issues.

I was thinking the same thing as there are a lot of concerning catches identified in this thread. Either this car is just presented horribly and has some cosmetic needs to address or it has a suspect history. Either way, I am surprised at all the comments about how beautiful the car is when it looks terrible. I don't know if chiming in there would be helpful to buyers or seen as sh%#@ing on the seller's for sale ad. Maybe just gently copy the link to this thread, haha.
