Anyone familiar with the history behind this specific vehicle?

https://www.porschestlouis.com/used-...AC29957S793058

I’ve had the gt3 itch for years but have never legitimately been in a position to justifiably afford one until now. If this car checks out, I will likely take the plunge. If anyone knows the history behind this car, it would be much appreciated. I know the gt3 community is a small community, and forums like this are great to find out some information on a specific vehicle. I thought I’d reach out and see if anyone had any feedback they could share before I pay to have a PPI done. Thanks.

I am surprised that car has come down as much as it has. It was listed at $95k or so and wasn't selling so now they are offering it for sub $90k. 1/23 Cobalt Blue .1 GT3's according to **********. Make sure whoever does the PPI does a thorough inspection of the PCCB's to see if they have any track time on them and if the wear is ok. Either way that wouldn't be a deal breaker as you could retrofit on a set of steel rotors from Girodisc.

I heard it’s pretty rough. Great for a track car but that’s about it.

In that case that explains it. Pics hide a lot.

An occasional track day a few times a year and a fun weekend driver is what I am most interested in. Paint imperfections or interior blemishes don't really bother me. I want a mechanically sound car I can have fun with, one that won't be living in a shop more than it's living on the road. More than anything, I want to find out if there is a "buyer beware" type of story behind this car - $50K worth of repairs due to a track accident type of thing. If anyone knew anything like that, it would definitely come from this community.

I set up a PPI on Monday with a 3rd party. In addition, I have gotten the DME from the dealer (0 over-revs all ranges), learned the ceramics have been replaced with steel brakes, and the coolant lines have been pinned. Learning the ceramics are not with the car was a bit of a disappointment, but that personally isn't a dealbreaker. I also am partial to the cobalt blue, which is why I am interested in this specific car as compared to other's on the market.

Hopefully, the PPI, the dealer information, and any feedback provided here can paint me the best picture possible for this car. If I buy this car, I will look to be more involved in this type of Porsche enthusiast community.

Sounds like it has seen some track time, between the cage, pinned lines, and ceramics swapped over to steel. Not saying any of those things would mean it has been on track, but the combination of all of them sounds like it has been used on track. For what you are looking for that sounds like it could be a good car. Just get the full story on the car through a good PPI and you should be set. Best of luck!

My car has been heavily tracked I’m sure it’s not a surprise when you search it up. Over 3k miles so far in 4 months and not one issue. I saw the track record of services which made me belive it’s solid. Plus the entire front end is clear wrapped. Thanks Curt/Shay👍🏻

Glad to see these cars being driven, I've put almost 1k miles on mine in past 2 months. My PCar mechanic said the more the RS is driven, the better they get. 20-30k miles is just getting broken in.

I've always chuckled at that type of statement. Obviously it was tongue & cheek,... but I've always wanted to look a Porsche Mechanic in the eye, and ask "exactly which parts actually improve over time?"

I figure the parts are gonna fatigue or wear out. Why not enjoy them before that happens right? At the end it’s only money, go make more😆
