These cars sit low, tires are wide, the lower section of your car, is either going to get some damage to PPF, or the paint, you can argue wether marks in PPF is better than marks in paint, but neither are avoidable.

I actually think attending my local cars and coffee (I never attended pre-Covid) has really helped me realize that there are 2 options of ownership. (1) Never drive, go full Garage Queen, or (2) be a driver and just live with the patina while enjoying the car. Pretty much all of us want to be option 2, but you have to fight off the perfectionist OCD nature that many of us have.

Seeing a lot of high milage 964 and 993 cars with patina has helped me get more relaxed with option 2. That is what our cars will be in the next 10-15 years.

I've actually considered a 964 or 993 because they've already reached the point of a repaint of a panel or two being normal. I guess I just need to realize that in 15 years, a repaint will be more normal and to not be concerned with it. Appreciate everyone's perspective on this subject. But 997 GT cars are just too good not to drive, even though seeing my car clean brings me immense happiness (as it currently sits clean in the garage after an early morning wash).
This is it. I refuse not to put miles on and enjoy this car to the fullest, despite being so picky about its condition. Some patina from my enjoyment or someone else's carelessness is inevitable as the car ages.

Look at the jacking point of most 997 GT cars (on BAT), the paint is chipped off of them and eventually will develop corrosion, I think.
If your car is a keeper I think with very little effort we can slow down the aging process a lot. Tub scratches, jack points, and welds will/might rust, so I clean them and shoot a layer of Diamond Finish clear as preventative... that way I can keep the oxygen out and if any rust did start I'd be able to see it.

Look at this low 8k mile 2007 RS on BAT from May, this common weld rust needs stopped/removed then coated.

If you want to go OEM its Teroson MS 9320 Ochre(needs heated) or a close over the counter color match is 3M 08874 Rocker.

Ok I'm prob off topic... I'll stop now

I've had a couple times where a rock got through the Expel, but that's been rare. I'd like to replace what's on my GT3, but if any paint came off I would be bummed. Glad you guys mentioned the steamer.

How was that fixed? Looks like it was never damaged. Thanks

I assume the PDR guy has to remove the Xpel to fix it?

Don't think I've seen a .1 RS in black with the black contrast. I thought only the white, orange or green cars could be ordered with black accents. Were the accents changed from orange?

You could order a black car with black contrast on both .1 and .2. A handful were.

Seems like a reasonable price if the car has no paint work, clean DME and is unmolested with PCCB's/full leather.

I've been quiet in general. My father passed away two weeks ago and it's been a bit difficult around the household. I have not even see this white car for sale. Family came into town and is staying at the house so we've been catching up on life. My car hasn't been driven in months and I should sell it as nobody seems to have insurance in this state any longer. My 16, just turned 17 year old just wadded up two cars. First person didn't have insurance and the second person hit and ran. WTF!

This Monday the ACH crash, is just another reason to leave the car in the garage. Two Porsche's to boot. A Turbo and a 991 RS.

Condolences to your family.

Agree on your thoughts with the crash. Seeing that is always scary. People push it too hard on the street. One of the things I like most about my 997 GT3 is the ability to have fun even at slow speeds or shifting between gears in my neighborhood. Don’t want to have to put others at risk to have fun.
