The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
If you need 4 seats for your kids, it’s a great alternative to a gt3.

Did any of you guys see this 2012 GTS that sold for $166k on Pcarmarket. For the same money you could get a really nice .1 GT3 or a not quite as nice .2 GT3. Unless you are daily driving it, either of these GT3’s as far as the driving experience is quite a bit better than a GTS. Not that the GTS isn’t a good car, but they drive more or less like a Carrera S with some minor improvements. Even though this particular GTS is a rare color combo the result still doesn’t make sense to me.

It's more about the collectability than the driving experience on that one!

I was trying to be constructive and helpful to the seller on this .1 on BAT but I can’t get the way they fixed this out of my mind, I feel like the body shop didn’t quite get the assignment on a $160k car, I wouldn’t accept this if it was a drywall fix…

I can't tell you HOW many PCA folks I have met, who 1) have just never experienced a 997 GT3,.. AND 2) start out ownership with a low end Porsche (& usually in a common color),... and believe that stepping up to anything other than a GTS or a Turbo, is a waste on the street. They believe that for touring, C&C, running the family around,... the 997 GTS is the pinnacle NA car. I never argue with them. Its just not worth it. There is no convincing them. ... until ....
With folks like that, the ONLY remedy is to give them a ride. The times where I have done that (& even let them drive it),... they are shocked. Comments usually go like this: "I had NO IDEA!!!"
I just chuckle ... & just enjoy seeing the heavenly gates open up in their minds
so no,... it does not surprise me that someone would pay a 997 GT3 price for a Macadamia colored manual 997 GTS

Carrara White .2 RS with 12k miles and graphics delete. Price is $340k. Needs a new carpet trim piece as the holes from the roll bar are still there. Has the same M and M exhaust, but not sure if the suspension is still modified a bit. The black accents (lipstick, mirrors, and wing end plates) aren’t factory as they would’ve been red. Though I really like the way the exterior of the car is now.

I really liked that car but never pretended it approached a GT3 by any stretch of the imagination. GTS is rare due to being RWD and wide body, but that doesn’t translate into much additional driving enjoyment. It is a great daily though, and the back seats come in handy in a pinch if you have kids.
I had a 997 GTS manual. There is absolutely no comparison to a GT3. It’s not a midway point between a Carrera S and a GT3, as many on the internet profess. If the Carrera is a 1 and the GT3 is a 10, then the GTS is a 2, maybe 3. Not even close to 5.
