Good luck with the search!
I really hate PPI's, they are like house inspectors... they always point out things that can easily be fixed and miss the important sh*%.

So true, Dan. Perfectly exemplified by this 5K mile 993 Turbo which had a PPI done at Steinels and then required $225k of repairs/restoration from Canepa.

We can’t see the inspection report to see what it actually said. Canepa did a full restoration which I don’t think was Steinel’s PPI grading scale, but who knows.

I guess for amateur PPIs. But not if you give a competent shop direction and list of what to look for plus a request of photos of most every angle and area. It's pretty straightforward. I typically use PPIs just to get many photos of every angle of the vehicle and undercarriage and suspension and engine then have them do the usual DME, suspension joints, paint meter, check for leaks, sometimes compression test or camera. Nothing rocket science. Sometimes you just don't want a car with blems. Other times, you do (drivers are perfectly fine cars). Happens to be I am looking for more of a cream puff that I can abuse rather than one that has been extensively tracked that I was unaware of until signs came up in the PPI (again, tracking is fine, just I want to be the one doing the tracking this time around).

I don't think it is worth it. Not worried about the $1K. The seller is a good guy and the car is a good car. Just not what I am looking for. It wasn't mis-represented, I just didn't know all the details until PPI.

I was going by the prior owner’s comments. He stated that the service rep from Steindel’s who did the PPI stated that other a little bit of corrosion, there was nothing to worry about. I fully agree that PPIs are not performed to ensure the car is concourse ready, but this one should have resulted in dozens of red flags raised.

yea i think a lot of tubs will need touch up at some point, I know mine does. I was concerned around the ripples on the right that looked like there may have been impact on the tub…

Yea, one of our own members won that auction, then put on only 121 miles in the 6 months he owned, bought her a nice pair of shoes and is now kicking her out of the garage. Also looks like no real profit during his ownership time and possibly wanted to just get out of the car. Some folks are perfectionists. Can't fault them for that.

How is that even possible?? I put that on mine in 2 days. Lol.

This seems like a good deal for someone wanting a driver / no worries car.
