well, i would never recommend anyone stock pile cars for monetary gain

but if you are ready to pour some money into cars because you love them, love to have them, and love to drive them, good condition mezger gt3's are as good a bet as any for preserving value as well as any reasonably obtainable car out there

investing large sums of money for real and substantial financial returns over time is a different conversation entirely

I have go in with the same thought with every car purchase....if it's worth more than $0 after I'm done enjoying the car then it's just a bonus. I wasn't driving the blue 991 GT3 so it got sold...I don't keep anything that I don't drive regularly simple as that.

Drive any other car in the world then get into a 997.2 GT3 and take her for a spin. Now tell me what was it you were saying about their value? The dollar may devalue over night but the .2 is the best car Porsche ever made and it will only climb in value over the decades. And you can keep your Ferrari's. Thanks but no thanks!

Bumping this thread. It is almost 2017 and GT3 prices are as high as ever. No sign of bubble burst. Dow 20,000 is in sight. Dow 100,000 and GT3 $1 million here we come!!

If you have followed these cars closely, the prices have somewhat fallen over early spring. Is this a trend? Not sure. Next spring would be a good indicator of the pattern.

Yup. Down about 10% yoy. Spring prices will show where next year will be. My thought is that the staggering decline in new 991.2 purchases (-40% yoy!!!) will drive 997 GT car prices up again even with the 991.2 GT3 available to row your own.

Why are 991.2 GT3 sales down so much?

Sorry if i was confusing... not 991.2 GT3 but 991.2 Carrera. Consensus is that ppl are rejecting the turbo platform. 718 is in the same boat though that can also be attributed to the aversion of paying $60-$80k for a 4 banger. 991.2 GT3 isn't even announced yet so hard for sales to be down.

I hadn't heard that new turbo Carrera sales are so soft. I'm not doubting you, but do you have more info/stats?

I think all indications are that 991.2 GT3 sales are going to be very strong (with NA motor and Manual gearbox option, if rumors are true) - probably best selling GT3 yet. Supposed to be a press release in less than 3 weeks with specs...

It'll be interesting to see how Porsche handles the big drop in sales of turbo 991.2 911s and Caymans. Should give them a hint that the same thing will happen when and if the GT cars go turbo.

From what I understand is the 991.2 sales have not slowed down due to the turbo motors.

Porsche sales are stronger than ever, most do to overall economy, leasing being so attractive to most people, and the domination of PDK at dealers.

Not saying I am a huge fan of either PDK or turbo motors, but the its undeniable that the 991.2 S is a much more responsive car that then NA 991 S cars.

And once tuners are able to break the ECU code on the 991.2 C2S motors, you'll see the invention of the 991.2 C2S - GT2 clones
