Default Is it hopeless for me?

As a lot of you guys know, I've been blessed with 4 different (actually bought the same car back one time) RS's and a GT3 in past years. Since I sold the last one I've put substantial money into the new company and don't have the funds to dive back into one, especially since the appreciation rally in the last couple of years.

But, I really want to get back into a PCar. I, like most of you guys here, just love the GT cars..there really is no substitute.

Is there anything out there that I would be content with for awhile until things get cranking again financially? Here's the kicker, I can spend between $45 and 60K, max.

What would you buy?...if anything.. I've really been spoiled and delighted with the GT cars. But, fact is I can only drive a Porsche 6x +- per month..just don't have the time. But, man, I sure do miss those times on the road, a date night or a lighter than usual Friday when I can get in it and enjoy it. It was even fun just running to the store for something. Kind of takes you away from things albeit a short time period.

Although the prices are high/inflated now I'd suggest a 993. They are older and not as fast, but they have a real rawness you can't touch in modern P-Cars besides in a GT Car. Also they are just beautiful...

Otherwise your EX is always available to use when in town...

I would LOVE to stretch a little for a GT4, but for some strange reason, I can't find an allocation. But seriously, I have considered a newer Cayman S..they are good looking cars. Just not sure how I would fit into them. The older models..not so much.

Watch it Dave...might take you up on that.

Def want to stick with water cooled and up. Just don't know much about the air cooled versions. They do have a great look to them though and appreciating like crazy.

+1 on a 993

And unlike a Cayman...a 993 is an appreciating asset, has a great 3.6 Mezger engine and G50 6-speed manual and best of all - it's a 911

I sure miss mine...

Have you looked for a 996 GT3? People have been raving about how raw the 996 is.

The new Cayman is great, but certainly not a 997 GT3. Just go to a dealership and drive it for yourself

Had one, but missed the creature comforts. They are FUN to drive on the track. Lots of feedback.

Not a bad idea to go drive a Cayman. But, I'm sure not like a GT3.

If you can source a 6gt3 in your price range I go for that. I prefer a 964 over a 993 if I had to pick for pure driving experience. Mike

One thing about the 6GT3, I doubt we'll ever see anymore depreciation. Don't see a lot them lately though.

Although I am currently trying to sell, I have really enjoyed driving my 996 turbo. A lot of car for the money. Great daily driver and can be made competent on the track.

Don't know. Got a big move coming in a few months. Trying to sell a couple properties , pay off a couple other debts, and see where the dust settles. As kids get older an my time for the track has diminished, I have enjoyed having the turbo as a car I can actually use rather than having a $100k car that mostly sits in the garage. Bubble or no bubble, I couldn't stomach paying the prices GT cars are commanding right now, especially since, like you, I have owned several of them that cost me a lot less.

Yep, I feel the same way about buying at those prices when I owned for much less. Guys that have them and like them are hanging on the them. I don't blame them..I would too. Fantastic cars.

Whatever I get, it won't see much if any track time. Race bug has had me for some time now.
