Yup...though the sport buckets sit a bit high. I'm 6'5" and 215lbs and fit. Not what I'd describe as roomy though...

spyder's are holding their value quite well if it has a manual and sport buckets and will always be desirable with that combo. Might even tick up in price once the 2nd gen spyder hits the streets

Yeah, many times I wished I would have bought a cayman race car instead of the boxster. By the time I replaced the engine, could have had one. Awesome track cars.

Hmmm. Gotta go sit in one. There is one in Hilton Head.

Is the new one PDK? Haven't been keeping up lately.

Just watched a vid on the soft top removal for the Spyder. Albeit a beautiful car, that isn't what I had in mind with the top. Maybe Cayman R? What will happen with the R values when the GT4 comes out?

I think they will hold up just fine. A nicely optioned GT4 is $30,000-$40,000 more that a Cayman R. Not to mention they barely sold any Cayman Rs so it's got that going for it too...

You already have 2 race cars so this car would be for what you've described in your first post. Not necessarily for track duty, but I know you, so here's my $.02

If not a GT-4 then no Cayman. A Cayman R isn't the same. (Granted I have no experience with a GT-4)

IMO I'd get a 911 S (997) before a Cayman R. You can GT the body if that's what you want. And you get the back seat for the kiddo's on occasion... I would't trade my RS for anything, but I do wish at times I had a back seat to bring the rug rats.

Plus I doubt a Cayman R would out-do a 911 for what you'd use it for....

Cayman R < Carrera S < GT-4

Photos and list of options do not correlate. No mention of PCCBs.
There definitely is not a front anti-roll bar or a rear anti-roll bar.

Always a red flag for me when they don't pay attention to details.

I very much like the older cars and for different reasons, but to compare any of them to a GT3 is unfair (to them). Unless you've put 10s of thousands of dollars into engine, transmission, and suspension upgrades. Then you could maybe make a case but at that point they'd be in a similar price range anyway...

I see what you mean. Indeed they cannot be objectively compared.

That said...I enjoyed the 964 every bit as much as the I do the .2 GT3. I have the newer car, however, because I'm not comfortable with having my son in a car with outdated safety systems.

Good points Dave..thank you. Maybe just wait on the GT4. I'm sure some will be available. The question is when.

For your budget a 964 would be an easy fit. You could easily upgrade the suspension and stay inside the budget. And when it was time to move on you would likely be in the black. As a long time air cooled guy I am the odd duck here having a .1 GT3 and 10 AC cars. Both put a smile on your face. The driving experience is different, a momentum car vs big power, but car control is car control. It is often said it is more fun driving a slow car fast. And there is the classic look.
