Wow. Just watched some videos from the GT4 forum. That is an exciting car to say the least..especially with the 3rd pedal. If I can get an allocation, I'd spring for it, through some down and finance that sucker. Reminds me of when the first 7.1 RS came out. Looks like a bargain at that dollar figure..who needs options..

Very true. And what's not to like? Lug nuts, naturally aspirated engine, stick shift, great looks, track capable if need be...

Out of curiosity, what's keeping a good tune from getting north of 400hp with the 3.8 without grenade danger?

Agreed on 993.

I plan on selling mine soon, but really enjoy it more than the GT3 around town.

60 max. there are NO GT variant in that range. if you do find one, it has problems.
if cayman s there's a very nice red one posted for sale in SD, CA
i like 964 over 993. but 964C2 is likely more than 60 also.
and there are very very few 993 below 60. unless you accept 100k miles or targa/ cab

I'm with you John. Last thing I want is to buy a project or problem. I think if I got into a Cayman S, I'd wished I'd waiting on the GT4. Even if I don't see an allocation, some will pop up for sale with an acceptable configuration.

Maybe a 997S with aero to scratch the itch until then? I saw a couple in the low 50's with low miles.

You are best to find a 996GT3 and pay under $69k for it if you are lucky enough to find one.

2012 Cayman R would also be a great place to look for a decent car in your budget.

$60k is not awhole lot of money these days... gets you a nice basic 993 or 964.

Does it have to be some sort of original GT car? For instance, last fall i sold our pristine '07S Carrera, with BBS wheels, chrono and every option less nav. 35K, for $52K. You can get them now for mid $40's, put some Tubi mufflers on it, good tires, and have 90% of a GT car for less money. Or a recent Boxster for about the same. Any sort of GT is going to cost substantially more. But like for just about everyone, ultimately it will be your choice and your money.

I'll also throw my hat in the ring for a 993. I've had mine for 11 years and love it more each day. It has the rawness of my RS but in a package that's honestly much more fun on the street. As mentioned above it also seems to be an appreciating asset. If it wasn't great I would have sold it and bought my RS a few years earlier.

Another vote for the 987.2 Cayman S. A lot of fun on the track and lower cost of consumables when it comes to tracking.

993 or 964. Has the GT ethos before the GT variant of the water cooled engines

996 turbo. They are starting to turn the corner and creep up in value. Huge fun on the street with the torque. IMO it the best car for the dollar you can buy right now. You can find very nice ones in the 40's. A reflash and exhaust on a x50 car will give around 500hp at the wheels. Makes a cayman S or anything short of a 3.8/4.0 rs feel slow. I bought one a few months ago.

+1 996TT is still a bargain for the performance and reliability. Wish I had mine still (in addition to the GT)- the good news is there are still loads of them out there.
