I can tell you in Canada we are seeing crazy price appreciation (partly because the value of the dollar fell relative to USD). In the fall they were selling in the $125,000-145,000 range. Now Pfaff Porsche in the GTA just sold one for just under $190,000 with barely any options but 5-6000km.
I thought they peaked in price, but realized this is just the beginning. There will be a small dip in prices as current owners trade for the '15 RS but it will go up from there once the market absorbs those cars. Why do I think so? I've owned this car for a few days and took my car to two garages. One of the technicians told me it was his dream car. At the second garage I went to, a service advisor told me it was his dream car. As I was waiting around, I stepped outside and someone admiring the car from far told me it was his dream car (current owner of a 997 C4). He said it was the highlight of his day staring at the car --his words not mine. You get the idea. It's the end of an era and everyone knows it. 997.2 generation will have a stronger following than the 993 generation IMO.
Anyways, lots of us 'car guys' share the same opinion on cars. Don't be surprised if models in great condition with under 10,000 miles are selling in the 200-250k range two to three years out from now. If the RS4.0 is selling in the 350-400k range already, it makes sense (600 vs ~1600 produced worldwide???). Anyways, glad I got one because I don't see this price increase letting up soon. Lots of us want one, too few are selling. This car represents a lot! Love mine.

Yup, it's going to be appreciation time until everyone get's their 991 GT3's, the one's who kept theirs, engines swapped and then the 2015 RS will hit and it will be all over. Though I'm now thinking that the floor on the Price of the GT3's won't fall completely out all at once - what is sitting at the dealerships when that happens will be just that tad little tougher to sell. They are the last of a generation and last of the manuals if that is your thing.
Wonder who is going to offer that 7 Speed Conversion to the 991 GT3s/RSs? Someone will if you throw enough money at it and the cost will be probably $25K+.
What tuning houses can seriously take the 7 Speed Manual and beef it up and perhaps modify for quick change gears - if you want to go that nutty.

I never keep cars for more than a year or two max. The RS is one I have no plans for selling. I don't know what I would replace it with for the price and I've seen one too many "posts of regret" about selling a .1 or .2RS and now not being able to get one at a good price. With all that being said I'll take 200k for it, buy a 458 and join Ferrari Chat. Lol.

The market will continue to creep up no question. I've owned my 2008 GT3 for a few months now and the connection it offers is certainly becoming extinct in new cars. I caught mine on a decent deal (low 70s), but I had to work hard for it.
There is no question that the 997 GT3 sits at classic status. The interest that the public shows these cars makes it seem older than it is... its a huge contrast in the mute age automobile that exists around us. Unfortunately, I'm not sure we'll ever see automobiles like these again and everybody I have come across loves it.
I've actually had a few valet guys get out of the car and hug it to say "Forget the Ferrari, this is what I want"... lol..but not really sure if lol :-/

These threads always bring a smile to my face, whether we're ultimately right or wrong.
I rarely do anything in life with great timing. Generally I'll sit on the fence and wait, then miss the boat. However, for once I did it just right with my own RS. I bought it when they were at their arguably lowest point (April 2013) right on the verge of the new 991 GT3 coming out with it's PDK-S system.
I remember thinking at the time "wow...my new RS might become a future collectible and stabilize in value some day". Then, the madness took over with the never-ending issues with 991 GT3s and the realization that the GTR-ification of our beloved brand may not actually be a good thing.
Damn I'm happy I bought my RS. What a terrific car, and it just keeps getting better.

Can you remember if that Car had PCM and Sport Chrono? If not, almost certainly a trackster's build.

Don't waste your money on the 458, it drives like a normal car more than a car that gives a true visceral experience. I've had 5 Fiats now and the only one's that will share garage space with the RS in the future are an F40 or `67 275 GTB/4. I think I've reached my limit on the evolution of the automobile and am happier going backwards.
The 458 does look amazing. I've never driven one, but damn do they look the part.

I grabbed a PDF of the posting before it was deleted. Was posted at 8:23am PT and marked sold 9:24pm PT. So I said 1 hour but I'd missed the am/pm thing. So 13 hrs. Fast.
Unfortunately I missed the posting, a friend of mine in AZ knew the car/shop and uses the shop for his race cars...
