Crazy market today vs. previous years, that's for sure.
I'm going to enjoy my car, maintain it thoroughly & see where the market goes.
Either way, I'm a happy guy to own one of these great Porsches.

speaking of RS prices, must be a story with this one since it has been listed for a while yet not snatched up at this price...

In my group of friends, the 997 GT series cars are spoken of today in the same manner as how people spoke of the 993 Turbo 10 years ago (ie, "one day I will own that car").
That may give an indication of the long term value trend. I'm in the camp that believes this is not a bubble and that this car represents the end of an era. There will be ups and downs with the overall economy, but my take is the overall trend will be upwards.
The MSRP on my car was CAD$162,500 back in 2007. In today's money, that's $184,913. For cars with low miles, which are essentially barely broken in, the current pricing appears to be quite good value.

I think some of us have become "collectors" even if that wasn't the intention. Me, personally have a price point that I feel comfortable tracking. Some of these cars are way over my track limit. So they end up being used in a different way. I would be lying if I said I don't enjoy it and was fortunate to get in at the right time. And we still get to enjoy the cars on the road.
But I have little understanding for buying a car and just let it sit. But I guess its like having a big piece of art???? Probably does the trick for some? Not for me.

This is me. I bought my RS in November 2013 for under $100k with the intention of tracking it. Given the price increase over my ownership period, I've decided I'm not comfortable taking it to the track as eating six figures would be a very big deal for me. That said, I drive it all the time (bought it with 14k on the clock, now approaching 21k) but continue to use my 993 for track duty. Now that 993 prices are starting to get out of control, I feel like I need a third track car to keep my other two track cars safe
You need a 3rd car now.
E class 911 racer or Cayman R with a with cage.

That's why I don't have a 997RS.. Paying more for no warranty than for a new with warranty makes no sense.
I buy to beat on, not to see them appreciate.
For no warranty, better go older, simpler beaters that are cheaper to fix.
If they do appreciate, great, I get to not lose a lot money and buy the next beater.
Don't buy cars to not drive them, and that's why Tom, you need to ship that 964Turbo to me.
