Give the guys at GSR a ring, they did my 2 PPI inspections.

"I think the dealer's CPO is a joke. They take the car in, spend the absolute least amount and then kick it back on the lot for thousands more.

Saw it first hand too many times for me to want a CPO. The only thing good about a CPO is the extended warranty. "

I have an 07 RS CPO runs through Dec 2014 9K miles on it. Sat in garage for about 11 months while I was overseas working... Just had Front and Rear Seal replaced on engine for oil leak... All covered. New Starter, covered. And ignition switch covered. (it was sticking)..

While engine was out had all pipes welded so only had to pay the cost of removing those items to get pipes welded and added sharky pipes.. Of course i Have heard horror stories from others with CPO but I am glad I had mine... Saved me about 5-7K I would guess...

Ok, I am back. Several of the last answers are true, the 991 GT3 will destroy my 997.2 GT3 RS on the track and rides better on the road. But, I think we are missing the point, if you want to row the gears, feel the road unfiltered and hear a metzger roar then you have no choice but to pay up. Do I think the market is hot, of course, but after the dip will the RS CONTINUE going up absolutely because Porsche cannot go back and build this car again period. So, if you want a car that's faster per dollar then most super cars get the 991 GT3, if you want a future classic and can AFFORD to hold then 997.1 or 997.2 it is.

I thought prices would have gone down, but high mileage examples (15-20k)are now going for 160-170. Prices may come down if a special edition 2016 RS cup manual comes out. If this cup edition car is super limited and in 230k range then the 997.2 values may even stay or go up.

I looked into a stripper 2011 gray black with 2500 miles, asking 177K by private party, maybe sold for 170 to a dealer and now relisted at 199.....take it for what its worth, as a seller, I would not have sold to a dealer.

I drove a 991 gt3 for first time last week. It's an engineering marvel. Its performance is unlike anything I've ever driven. And, when I finished the test drive, I wanted to buy more 997's. If I had driven a 991 earlier in the cycle, I would have been more aggressive at buying primo condition/color/etc 997s. It makes you realize how collectable the 997 is. The tranny is just one of many qualities that makes the 991 a completely different car; throwing a manual in it wouldn't close the gap between 997 and 991 as a fun/raw/connected driving experience. The 991 is a better track weapon AND a better DD. So, again, it's truly an engineering marvel. But it's not half the fun toy of a 997. If I didn't have kids, the 991 gt3 would be an alternative to my m5. But it's not an alternative for a Sunday morning drive in 997, even if it had 3 pedals.

"if you want a future classic and can AFFORD to hold then 997.1 or 997.2 it is."

And that is a good way to end it.
