Thanks John,

For some reason I can't get the darn car to start at the moment

You guys should come up here for this stuff - 70 cents on the dollar!

Cheers,

Mark

My RS is well taken care of by Charles here but my Miata is going to Vancouver for service soon. There are many fast Miata in BC

Anyone had a failure while using this damper yet? Any new data to share?

Any feedback?

Seems very promising

We've had in the car for about a year. No issues (but no data either).

Time to check the bolts for tightness on the damper if it's been a full race season.

I think it's part of the nut and bolt that's done regularly but I'll check. Thx.

Any more data points with this dampener? Next car has come down to an RS or another make/model altogether. Having almost purchased an RS with a grenaded motor replaced due to the actuator bolts failing, this issue is particularly concerning to me. Just trying to factor in additional post-purchase costs and see if it still makes sense for me to get the 7.2 RS.

Reading forums, of course it seems like a widespread problem when in reality, it probably only affects a small percentage of cars. Solution is probably to just buy a car and stop reading forums

Have the normal 997.2 GT3 same issue?
Perhaps more reliable, than .2 RS.

I've had the issue with stock GT3 engine almost from day 1.

After a few years I added LWFW kit but no change in rate of decay due to resonance.

Engine rebuilt this year, lots of issues found that were/are resonance related and recounted in this thread somewhere.

The rebuilt engine has had the damper on since first turn over and we will do a tear down on its anniversary to check. To date though (5 months), no issues

Refresh my memory of the torque value?

Thanks

997.2 GT3 comes with a dual mass flywheel stock, the RS a single mass. If you have a .2 GT3, keep the dual mass, or if you change to single, get a dampener...

Any update to this issue. Has anybody who has installed a dampener and still owns their GT3 with SMFW or RS had any issues with bolts backing out?

TIA

Still have this installed on my 4.0 Cup. Both before and after engine refresh 10 hrs ago. I don't have a double blind test or any empirical data to offer but my tech tells me that since installing there is noticeably less backing out of bolts, presumably due to less vibration.
So maybe there are other unseen benefits as well. He is definitely old-school (former ALMS mechanic of the year) but just oversaw another 4.0 race motor rebuild and had them (Autometrics) include it. That tells me something.

As always YMMV.
