I would think the GT2RS at Sebring would have better lap times...no?

You'd think so, but I am hedging my bets.

Here you go Peter: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...&&aff=national
So who's going to bite the bullet? Peter? Mooty buys this, and sells Peter the 4.0? Or is someone else going to pick this baby up?

First point: WRONG. I really don't like turbo cars. I didn't expect to like the 2011 GT2RS after having driven this client's GT2, which I disliked a lot. Boy, was I mistaken, and so are you, Rad. The GT2RS is nothing like the TT except for the fact that it has a turbocharged flat 6 & is a 911.
Second point: WRONG. I can't speak for others. However, for me, this car does EVERYTHING well. As I said, if it had 300 fewer HP, it would still be awesome. Handling is superb, sublime. So easy to trail brake the car, so easy to get to power early with no lag, so easy to always be in the power band, great downforce, juust a magical car.
As is the 4.0. Equally.
To me the GT2RS is the 4.0 with a bit more motor.
But by all means you are entitled to your opinion.

It would not be close at Sebring with the 4.0 and GT2 RS though. we are talking 120 more hp and 200 more lb/ft of torque with very similar handling ability. The 4.0 would get mauled on the straights and have little if any advantage anywhere else. Even if it could corner slightly faster, the RS would suck that up and some by the time you exit the corner.
There is no reason to believe the GT2 RS would do anything but ravage the 4.0. Be a closer competition with the regular GT2 and the 4.0. And still not on a track like Sebring. Better pick something with a lot more time spent turning.

Yeah, I agree. My only hesitation is that the GT2RS is slightly heavier, so its overall advantage may not be gigantic. Then again, I may be wrong--it may be a blow out.
I guess I would really like to find out at Sebring or Road Atlanta or TWS!!
EDIT: i was wrong, it isn't heavier by much. GT2RS weighs 3,020 pounds and makes 620 hp. 4.0 weighs 2,995 and makes 500 hp. GT2RS would eat the 4.0 for lunch at Sebring or Road Atlanta.

We have to get Dez an Rad together, you both crack me up.
The GT2RS would be much faster on all the big tracks by a lot. Perhaps the 4.0 would be more fun depending on how much the driver likes bullying.... Can the be made to sound like cars instead of small jets?

Yeah that is what I was thinking too. It's not like the GT2RS is on some sort of crappy suspension and weighs a ton. To me a GT2RS would be a fun DE car.
