Agreed! Key is trail braking there (as with many other places at Sebring).

Of course trail braking..

Hmmm, yes smooth on throttle.
Even more so with all the extra HP and torque, slicks not withstanding.
On slicks 3rd is faster i bet, but I don't have that data.

I overlaid data and with fresh front tires and cold weather 3rd is faster if you try not to crush the 2-3 shift.

Old front tires, warm weather, passenger and or crunch 2-3 and 2nd is faster.

It does if you drive a FIAT. e-diff lock at 100% and bang out of T7.

Trail braking is fast for T1, T7, T13, T15, T17, but it takes very big pelotas.

I keep using T3-T4-T5 as autocross turns (shortest line possible), and T10 I cut it short trying to exit on the right rather than track out to then be able to set one arc for T11 at full gas when driving the FIAT. When driving the Cayman, I track out of T10 at full gas and make it full gas to T13, but stupid Coxster is slow.

Time to practice new things and study more. Thanks a lot.

With slicks second is definitely faster. I'm shifting sooner to fifth when going to turn 10 when I come out in second. Plus slicks has a larger circumference than RA1s/R6 so higher torque is needed more to exit quicker.

However, if you go off course at 7 like Izzone, 3rd will be a better and safer gear. https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have Chris hall data

In the heat on ra1 2nd gear is slower

2nd is faster until you shift, then it's equal to 3rd

Chris didn't believe it until he tried it both ways

2nd just feels faster, with 3rd you can get on power earlier

They lose less time shifting and are geared different.

I shift to 2nd for T10, definitely faster. By the time I reach T11 I'm doing 69mph on 2nd VS. 66mph on 3rd. It's pretty consistent.

Yup, in a regular GT3 this works. The RS gearing is shorter, however, and 3rd is better for them in T10.
