I wonder if my 2 sets of BBS will still work with the "improved design"
Spoke with my Service Mgr, he hasnt gotten anything yet, but his "sources" say tomorrow they should know.

I wonder if they made the fix on cars built after 9/10? The wheels look the same so I am guessing its more of a hub issue, but I am no engineer.

If they replace wheels, can we keep the old ones ? And if so, can we pick the color ?
Doubt it

Wow Pablo.. I think the wheels are kinda theoretical inless they are really banged up from loose wheel nuts. And if you have loose wheel nut you know.

I have a hunch after reading a few threads on this that the potential issue is due to the revised torque spec. Given that the hubs and wheels show no difference in look or part number and the recall is only pre 9/2011 mfg cars, I am thinking that the TSB dealers and we saw a few months ago was the "fix". Tighten your wheels more. After that prod date, the factory and dealers were tightening them down appropriately preventing any damage that could have been caused. But for earlier cars there is a possibility they were running with a torque figure too low to safely maintain the hub and wheel, so that possibility has led to a recall. In effect to replace the potentially damaged components, but not due to a design change...rather a torque spec.

Does that seem right or am I being hopeful here?

For the first time, I am joining the group of Porsche naysayers, prognosticators, whiners, and quite frankly, just temporarily angry owners. (This being my first Porsche) Some of these, which have already been alluded to, are really, really bad!!!!!
1) Have my first track event next weekend, if I get a recall notice, do I dare track it?
2) I bought the OZ’s, had great luck with every set I have had before, never used um yet, if they don’t fit after the change, they truly are a wheel without a country! Can't use um, can't sell um, what would they fit?
3) How long for new wheels if that is necessary? I could lose the entire season!!!

I agree I might be overreacting, but which part of Germany is really the smartest? I have tracked all but one variant of the M3, a 328, and a Z4M Coupe, never a real problem.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am truely loosing it, I am replying to my own post. What if they raise the torque requirements significantly, my new tools are toast. I feel a garage sale coming on. Maybe tonight they will announce a gt3 RS 3.8 black addition and just cap off a perfect evening!

I understand your frustration - my first one too - and after much waiting and saving!

Anyhow, if it is any help, I was fortunate enough to learn that the centre locks had to be tightened to 600nm (I did one track day with them at 500nm). I have done 10,000km's and about 10 track days now. Had no problems and the car has been inspected by Porsche who say there is no wear. Therefore, I would suggest that if you tighten to 600nm you will be ok for your coming track day. I would still make sure they replace under recall if your car was built in that period and you could always take your car to your dealer and ask them if its ok to track in the mean time.

My car was built in the period Porsche say cars need recall and even though they say its all ok, I am going to push for replacement of everything.

My car was built during that period.....I've tracked it quite a few times....just torque correct

I do think I have defective front rotors, mine are cracked everywhere......maybe they will be recalled soon

Strange, my rotors were also defective. So much so that i had to put new ones on after a mere 14 days of "spirited" driving

Porsche must read Rennlist......In the recall notice they mention....

The German automaker said that it is aware that some 911 owners "occasionally operate them on a racetrack or under similar conditions."
