I think the likely scenario is that the dealer will inspect the wheels for any possible damage. Worst case, they replace any damaged wheel (only OEM wheel). Most likely, they say "no problems found" and just replace the nuts.

Same here.... the GTS seems to have the new CL nuts with no torque spec on them....what confuses me is what is Porsche refering to as the CL Hub Assembly that they are recalling?

People on this forum keep talking about the CL nuts...that is not a hub assembly. Seems there is more to the recall than just the CL nuts...yes?

Ha! I WISH that they cost me $0.02. I didn't have a long enough bolt in my bin of leftovers, nor did I have any M8 nuts. So, I had to go to the hardware store. I bought 1 pc M8 x 60 cap head bolt, 10 pcs M8 nut (5 per bag) and 2 pcs M8 washer. Total cost about $7. All made in Taiwan.

An excellent example of ingenuity and individual spirit! Add a drop of Loctite to the last nut and tighten it against the bolt.

My guess is new wheel nuts IDENTICAL to the current ones, but no torque spec. Torque spec probably up to the 450 lbs rather than the 379 in the manual.

Also note that OZ that makes the OEM wheels, also make OZ ultralegarras, and the new superforgiatas.

Remember the bulletin that was posted on the site........well now it's a recall.

Only thing that makes sense. No new wheels is my guess.

NEW CENTERLOCK NUTS.....(probably no new "GT3" emblems")....nuts only....my guess

LehmanZ06, I was thinking exactly the same, but why would it then only be for cars pre Sept 10?
Does not make sense??

My 2RS, Dec 2010 mfg, has no tq spec indicated on the CL nut. So they figured it out a while back.

Yeah. I have my OEM center locks----that I was going to give to the dealer to grease after a bunch of use. I picked up a another set of OEM wheels from Suncoast like 10 months ago, and got a set of Red RS center lock nuts......just started using them as they were greased really well.

Now maybe I get another set of nuts ! Again probably not a set of free center caps...(rats !)

Note: The GTS also does not have the torque spec on it and seems identical to the GT3, other than the "spec on it"

It could be due to material(s). It's possible that the vendor that makes the nut substituted a material(s), or used a bad lot of material, or ?

It's also possible that Porsche decided to change material(s) when they issued the bulletin increasing the torque spec. An easy way to keep track of which part/material is which would be to change the printing (in this case, changing it to remove the 500Nm spec).

You might be shocked to see/hear the **** I have to deal with with contract manufactures, especially in Asia (and the rest of the world too).

My Precision Instruments 3-piece tq wrench is already out of calibration (badly) due to me using it (reversed) to bust the nuts. I had to send it back to be repaired today. After some hard tracking the breakaway tq to loosen the nut can be 600ftlbs or more. That 3R bar comes in damn handy.
If yours was badly out of calibration, mine surely is way out of wack with all the beer around my GT3RS workplace.. I even managed to break the Porsche tool by trying to tighten to couple thousand NM.

So. Where to I send mine to get checked?

What you guys are calling Center Lock Nuts...Porsche is calling them Center Lock Hubs???? Are Nuts and Hubs the same thing?
