Just another data point:
Had my '11 GT3 in for routine service today. I asked about the CLs, the SA ran the VIN and gave me a copy of the campaign report - no open campaigns.

I don't have the new ones either - mine have the torque rating written on them. I plan to re-grease them this weekend (did it once last Fall).

The wood clamp in the link I posted can be reversed without tools, it's a newer design and much stronger clamping force.

I have the wheels just a half a skosh off the ground so they're free, then the reaction bar rests on a 2x4.

Savyboy... your 3R breaker bar actually broke at the weld! Damn!!! Good thing you didn't get hurt. Mine isn't broken (yet), just bent and twisted. I'm certain it will break soon, however.

Here is a shot with the bar against a nice rectalinear grid of tile, so you can easily see the distortion:

And here you can see the excessive wear marks due to the twisting:

Why do you guys bother with breaker bar? The wrench will do the trick. One piece less tools..

I use the Porsche factory breaker. it breaks down into three telescopic pieces and it has the advantage of not failing. The design of the two after-market tools that have failed were practically destined to fail. Just have a look at the head of a high quality tool -- it will look nothing like this junk.

Also, by "wrench" do you mean the three piece torque wrench? Does this wrench specifically (in the documentation) allow for use as a "breaker"?

Nobody beats your prices. Call me I'll send you a deposit for the 4.0 now.
lmao on 4.0 deposit
I don't think it's good enough a car for me to continue to spend time to look for one. however if a smart dealer should decide to provide me one at msrp or invoice they shall b rewarded.

glad that my prices are good and items are as described as u, izzone, rad and pjs can attest. what I don't get is that there are low ballers trying to nickel dime me. real buyers see my price usually just pay up. and the above buyers were GREAT to work with. money showed up so fast that I didn't have time to reneg lol

cgt, any brands of anodized wheel will turn purple. NO exceptions. bring me a set I will purple it in 10 track days.

if u want stay blk, paint it. not anno

I can't believe we r still discussing the poorly designed CL. race cars use either different CL mechanism or old school lugs. if I kept mine I would spend BIG money and convert to cup. it's close to 20000. I love impact guns. hand tools makes me feel inadequate.

What am I missing about why most of you guys hate the CL's? I watched Izzone today at Sebring change out 2 front CL's with the big Precsion Tools torque wrench and the bar from the brake pedal to the seat in no time at all. No big deal and easy to do.

The torque wrench Izzone uses has a switch that says CW on it and he used it as a breaker bar....quick and simple it seems.

yes, izzone has my wrench which is also what trakcar has. we use it as breaker bar and tq wrench. i dont like CL b/c i can't use impact wrench. it's MUCH faster with impact wrench. other than that, its' not too bad.

Hey Mooty,

How about one of these impact wrenches rated to 450 ft/lbs

^ the CL is alum. you can't bang it with impact wrenches.
i like CL, i just dont like the one on the GT3 street cars. the one's on cup car are wonderful
with the CL on street car, you have to remove the center cap, you will bend it. looks ugly. you replace it, you will bend it again and again. if you dont use it, dirt gets in, cause more prob....

is the system THAT BAD? no.
it's not that bad.
but it's not as good as porsche could have done it.
you know they can do MUCH better. why they didn't do it.... beats me.
