Nothing on my agenda preventing it at the moment, so I hope to be there as well. Was there last week end, first time this year, and had a great time. I'll pm you nearer the time to confirm.

Rapid, I'll try to make it there.

Did you paint the front lips white or is it wrapped?
Very nice, but I'm partial!!

Too bad about the license plate on the front.

Wrapped. You are right about the plate, nothing I can do about that though, maybe I should have ordered "speed yellow"....Looking forward to meet you and Larry, that would be great!

Haha, I gave up on shipping my car this year, but I was looking forward driving around getting flashed from the front :-)

You wrapped the whole car? Or just the red? Your car looks spiffy, mine looks like it has been ragged around a race track for 7000 miles.

Been very busy wasting time working and it will be 6 weeks before I can apply myself to more important things again, like the Ring.
As soon as I have some room in my brain I will hit you guys up for dates and rental cars.

I just wrapped the lip, & did acknowledge your primeur. Since we've had quite a wet and cold winter here, I've had plenty of time to shine the car.
You can rent pretty much anything for the ring, but it can get quite pricey for porsches: see for e.g.

Sure I remember your acknowledgement!
Just wondering how far you went with the wrap. Cool.

I've rented a 120I from rentracecar before, pricey but I had a good experience.
I will request a bit stickier rubber next tme. I think a Porsche will be outside my budget.

Larry, while you're "stretching", just be careful if you decide to do a bit of local flying

Finalized my trip. Arriving Saturday, 18-June, will get to the Ring in the afternoon. If I am feeling awake, will drive a few laps to refresh my memory. Then, steak and beer at the Pistenklaus, and a good night's sleep.

Sunday, 19-June, have a BMW rented for the day. Laps, rain or shine until I start making mistakes. Another dinner (no beer ), and off to Bremen for a week of meetings.

Hope to see some of the RL gang there. We can talk about how to drive FLAT OUT on the 'Ring.....

great news! I arrive on the Friday 17th... staying at RennHotel (because Am Tiergarten is full) will undoubtedly be in Pistenklause for beers and steak on a stone ... if you want a few refresher laps let me know!

Will miss you guys at the Ring in June. I plan to be there 07/12 (Tuesday eve) and 07/17 (Sunday). That Tuesday, die GP Strecke is also open which would be my first time. Have driven die Nordschleife many times. When I visit my homeland twice a year, I always rent a 4S Cab with sport exhaust (much louder than what we have here :-) and yes, I have hit 293 km/h with my wife in the car... we're still married! Some of the best stretches of open autobahn are the A1 and A60 just north of the Ring (some bad pavement, though). That's where the British, Dutch and Belgians drive to the Ring. One totally deserted and "brand-new" 4 lane Autobahn (rare) is north of Leipzig on the way to Dresden (A14). Sheer insanity, I drove between 250-280 for about 20 minutes!! But my favorite stretch and close to home is the A9 between Nuernberg and Ingolstadt (a little downhill :-), also 4 lanes. That's the road that Audi uses a lot to test their cars (lots of R8's). If you're interested in BMW's, drive A92 just north of Muenchen. Bavaria and the former southern East Germany states is where the fewest speed limits are. Most of Northern Germany and the Southwest is either 120 or 130 km/h which will put you to sleep...
Anyway, I digress... If anyone of you guys are there mid-July, let me know. My son and I are there for the Women's Soccer World Championship. Tschuess, Horstair.

It's just not the same in a rental car
The first 3 weeks of June are out for me, but I might still do a rental race BMW this summer if I make it over there. I'm thinking the weather is good in July / August..
