Quick update: published tolerance is 5.5... However, the actual is 5 3/4 inches. We have been fine-tuning the mold to accommodate the largest jack arms and I am looking at the new mold tomorrow. I don't want to be premature, but carefully stated it "may" be slightly larger than our early models. I will get the measurements by Friday at the latest and share them with you "all". The critical measurement is the widest point of the Jack arm closest to the pad. In this case, that point is where the pivot bolt and split rings connect the arm to the pad. Please take that measurement and drop me a note. Also measure for me the distance from the center of the pad back to the back edge ( Furthest edge from the pad) of the pivot bolt. Chuck

I use an AC DKHL13Q at home and a Harbor Freight 4000 lb. alum. racing jack at track. While Harbor Freight is the $1 Store for tools, their jacks are a bright spot, and are common in ALMS and Grand-Am pits.

great comment! Were you referring to the finished product or the manufacturing process? Chuck

I use the same Jack for the track and it is durable enough to last multiple seasons servicing two cars per event. So for the money, it's a great deal. It will get you up on Jack stands quickly and safely. Chuck

I ordered 2 sets of stands today with the low profile caps. When I spoke with Chris at IMGT3 he told me that the new low profile caps were being poured today.

^ cool - let me know what you find out if/when you locate an ac jack

btw - no affiliation but worth mentioning in case anyone is looking for an ac jack... they are a bit tricky to track down and the US dist has not had any stock for months

I emailed ac jacks directly and they put me in touch with Canadian dist in Kelowna
www.flemaproducts.com
my contact was named flemming and I believe he is the owner
very nice guy
easy buy
delivered as promised

just a heads up

You might be able to clear the widest part of your jack by lifting 2 inches higher than the top of the stand or turning the stand to the side a touch to clear that pivot pin in the lift arm. Obviously, the only way to be absolutely sure is to try the jack and the jack stand together. I'll do some checking to see if I can locate a local AC jack. I don't want to suggest grinding the jack stand, but those front edges do get ground at the foundry during post-casting clean up. What you're talking about shouldn't affect the structural integrity of the stand. I'll try to get you a firm answer. I'd like to know myself.
So I took one of the measurements which is the width of the pin -- it adds another 1/8th of inch to each side... so another 1/4 inch total... which puts the width of the portion right at your unpublished width of 5.75

At this point I will wait a bit and see if you are able to locate an AC jack and try it out or I will just order a set on the group buy and be the ac jack guinea pig... I will take pics that could be helpful to you and if they work -- great and if not we can work something out about returning them or if they just give me so much wood, I will buy another jack etc..

talk soon...
