Porsche of the Village in Cincy. They did it while they had the engine out for the CPO repair of the one that popped. If you remove the alternator and power steering system it can be done with the engine in the car... Saves you $3k+
Thats what I was going to do if CPO did not cover the drop...

This is the first I hear of a Porsche dealer doing the Pinnng while a car is under CPO. I thought pinning the lines would void the CPO.

Good tip about removal of the Alternator and Power Steering to avoid dropping the engine to do the pinning.

Pinning does void the warranty of the coolant fittings.
The pinning was done on the side of the CPO warranty and for a separate fee.

From other threads its about $3k. Dropping the engine and then a few hours to pin.

2004 GT3 with 41,500 miles on the clock. Blew out exiting T2 at Summit Main. No drama for me but following cars got squirrelly!

Pinned all connections.

2010 GT3 proactively pinned.

Used to rationalize putting off the expense on a relatively new car; but now that I've bitten the bullet, hope that everyone else does too! After all, when these fittings go it is the cars/friends behind you that suffer.

Maybe it is hard for me to explain in words, here is oem part.

You can see the glue in side&bottom of oem cast part where an insert would touch and seal at the bottom of the cast part in order to ensure no liquid can escape. In order to insure a perfect seal with a machined insert and the oem cast part, this needs to be very clean and make sure 100% contact with insert.

Before and after. prior to welding.

I had 2 coolant hose failures on my 2011 RS. The first one was at Road Atlanta in April, the second one at Thompson Motorsports Park, Connecticut in September. Luckily, other than myself, there was no incident for any other driver. They were both 2 different split hoses, and not at the coupling. Strange, because the hose just split.
