Yep, that is a Belgium front plate. What a shame...

Franchorchamps it is.

That license plate is from the Belgian importer. Nearly every new 911 model reviewed in the press is shown with these license plates. Every time a new model comes out they register the demo car with the same plates (and I suppose they put the previous car containing those plates for sale).

Sorry to hear about this accident, I dunno what to say... I am just glad that you were alright and that you had track insurance just to be sure.

In the end, it is only a car...

I'm just seeing this thread for the first time.
I am so sorry about your wreck Savy.
Glad you were not hurt. I completely agree with your statement about safety gear being so much more important than mods. Safety is where I put about half of my money in my build.

BTW, love your Spyder vid!

From cdixon on Rennteam:

"My cousins 2010 GT3 had a crash last weekend on a race track. One of his back wheels came off and tore the back off the car and trashed a brake disk. It turned out to be the OPC not torquing up the centre bolts on his rear wheels two days before, Did over €15k of damage (which Porsche are attending too)."

Thought it might be a good place to post this as a heads-up. And this is following maintenance performed at the dealership.
It can happen.

Ok, back home from track now. Rode with car on the flatbed truck. In the cab of the truck, that is. I feel fine and aside from my airbag arm I have no aches or pain. Porsche chassis and safety gear for the win

Upon close examination, and not in the mud and pouring rain it appears that the damage is not as bad as feared and tub is not tweaked. In fact, given the hit, I am stunned at the lack of tub damage.

I vividly remember during the hit how freaking solid it felt as it contacted. Like the face of two hammers hitting. Porsche builds one hell of a strong chassis, no doubt there.

A lot of energy must have been absorbed by the tire wall in front of the concrete wall. And more energy went into projecting the car vertical.

It will be an expensive fix, but unless the frame rack shows tweaking not currently apparent, then the car is repairable and may well rise from the mishap better than before. Stay tuned...this can have a very positive outcome in more ways than one.

Tub damage, unibody damage etc IS NOT a deciding factor on wheather an Insurance company will total the car. There is alot more to it.

It has ALOT to do with the Insurance company and the appraiser. I am an appraiser for Travelers and have totaled $60k cars with $15k in damages. I know of other companies ( THE ONES YOU SEE ON TV ALL THE TIME) that will write all the way up to the 75% threshold. As a Porsche fan I would do what I could and ask who I needed to in order to total that car.

Good Luck!!

Ouch goes to show that the dealerships aren't used to the CL wheels yet!

How can a CL wheel come off? There is a locking system in there that prevents the bolt from completely coming loose.
