Canepa has a 2k-mile Basalt Black 2009 GT2. I believe Canepa acquired this example from Isringhausen about a month ago.

For anyone more experienced with PCCB condition, do they look worn?

They are worn. The rotors have a matte finish (should be shinier) and the wear indicators are showing on both the rears. I think this one was previously tracked a good amount based on the PCCB condition and the DME indicates that this car has spent a lot of time at the top of the rev range.

Thanks - that was my thought too. They looked sort of toasted.

Maybe a truck or semi with a higher bumper hit the glass only?

Paint meter readings on the door will help confirm no body repair was involved.
Interesting development. Panels paint metered. The Carfax had a damage report for the left side but the right front fender readings indicate paintwork. Furthermore, the other panels were dead nuts 3.5 mils all around. Not sure I've ever seen a car measure precisely the same on all panels like that. Usually a slight variance. Curious to see how this impacts the auction. Still a beautiful car.

Is it just me, or is there no paint meter picture for the driver's left...where the accident was?

Pretty sure the pic labeled 10 of 17 is driver left

That's a fender. I'm looking for the driver's side door.

If there are no pictures of paint meter readings on the drivers door (where an accident is indicated on the Carfax) assume there is paintwork there.

I have to agree. Also, I'm not sure the seller answered the oil near the passenger turbo question. He included a pic of the ground saying there is no oil on the ground but zoom in to pic 160 and notice the oil sludge near the turbo. For a car of this caliber I would've prepared it better. Dry ice cleaning underneath and anticipated the usual requests for paint meter and overrev reports. The auction will likely suffer as a result of these things plus the revelation that it had paint work on the opposite side of where an accident report was documented by Carfax.

Haven't been keeping up with the overall market lately so not sure how much of today’s BaT result was due this particular car’s damage history and presentation, but at the end of the day it traded hands at about $100k less than the latest dealer asking prices I have seen, so that is really saying something. We've added an asterisk at the end of the VIN on the market spreadsheet. Perhaps in a few months there will be another 7GT2 that will cross the blocks without any stories or buyer concerns and will provide a clearer picture of the market.

Not surprised by the final hammer price on that car. I suspect a no-stories example with those miles would've gone 75-100k higher. First was the Carfax report question. Next the omission of a paint meter measurement on the driver door where Carfax had an accident report but seller said it was glass only. Then the revelation that the passenger front fender had paintwork. And the other panels each somehow matched 3.5 mils perfectly with no variation. The passenger side turbo had a leak at some point a.d the presentation of the undercarriage could have been better. From previous pics found on the internet show an aftermarket stereo and someone asked about a missing Bose sub.

Just alot of things to scare away a buyer of such a big ticket item. Still a rare bird and amazing car.

All this talk about 997 GT2 inspired me to knock the dust off. Such an amazing driving experience.
