I did, paid more with even a little more miles for a 6GT3 just as the economic tsunami was hitting in late 08.
Does this make me a fool or just unlucky?
Unlucky, but not as unlucky as the ones who bought real estate back then. Sh*t happens.

I think it's *relatively* high for an '07 GT3 ... I could be wrong ...

I guess what I am really saying is that GT3 lease residuals are at the high/optimistic end of the market...

the buy out of my '07 is 70K.

still on the fence...like the idea of taking the70k and maybe putting a completely different animal in the garage but I really like the GT3 as a DD.

just for kicks; I am also picking up a '71 pristine 240Z to replace the car I had in college and loved so much...they are actually at an early point of appreciation and should be fun to get back in one of those
Leif,

As a DD the .2 is quite a bit nicer.

I didn't give a rats-behind about "Ring times", it was about the driving experience for me. Had an RS, a 3 and now a .2 3.

The new engine is amazing on the street. Literally insanely smooth in delivery and feel. TQ-y too!

If the moola is the issue, negotiate the buy out. If fun, then...

larry,

you are a lost cause.
you are STILL trying to reason this thing out.
many have said smart money is to keep your car.
but as we all know, most car guys are not very smart. some are moronic, like myself.
so, just do all of us a favor and get the maritime car so i can stop thinking about it. and btw, bring it to PDC day, i need a car to drive ;-)

LOL. I did that too. I am a fool.

For the OP if you have mastered the 07, have the dollar, and would like to try something new then go for it. But maybe the car and driver still have some speed to give from the 07.

just my 2 cents.

it's not really about getting a faster car ... cant really explain why ... I guess I should get "car therapy" ...

After over 47 years of Porsche ownership I have spent more money modifying Porsches then I wish to admit. Most recently a 1986 930 which lasted only 7000 miles before it ended up with pieces of it’s pistons flying around in the cylinder heads. To make a very long and expensive story short I ended up sending the complete car over half way across the country to have a fresh motor built by the then “king of 930’s”! I drove it less then 100 miles before realizing it came back to me with a serious oil leak and an unacceptable chattering clutch! Back on the transporter and another 6 weeks later it was returned. I put it up for sale immediately after that and I managed to get an allocation for one of the first 73 997 GT3’s delivered to the states, promising myself that I would never ever modify another Porsche! That lasted almost three years until Alex and James brought Kermit by my house with their 3.9 conversion!!

Read the last four paragraphs on page 50 in the April excellence!! I love this engine!!

Larry that $50k delta? It buys my car, at least it did late last year.
And you'd keep your Cobalt GT3.
Seems like a pair of twins I could live with!
Maritime as a DD and Cobalt to play with.

agree with the ring time nonsense...I'm not breaking any records anytime soon.

did not know that a lease residual buy-out was negotiable...my understanding is that you pay the price or the company takes it an puts it up for auction?

what do you feel would be the proper market price for a 30k mile car?

I could just buy a lower mileage one but I know every mile put on this car and know that 0 over revs have occured and it has so many after market RS upgrades that to re-mod another to this level just puts me in the .2 direction and then the mod bug would hit me again and just be an insane delta

maybe I'll try the negotiation road and then drop it with our East Coast 3.9 conversion guy; Rick Deman...that is if I can pry him out of playing with his collection of Daytona Prototypes....(dude ran a 1:43 at Daytona ) not bad for playing around....

leif,

PFS rarely negotiate residual values.
it makes no sense to buy another at lower miles as 30k is nothing and you are the orig owner
if you were able to negotiate, 75-80 gets you a 15,000 miles car. so i would ask for 60k and see how much they bulk. if they would do 65 it aint bad.
options on these cars make no difference EVEN PCCB .
i can and have bought pccb cars at same price as regular brk

I'm about to write a 70K check to upgrade my '07 w 17K miles:

Additional 3 1/2 years factory warranty, wider rear, wider front, 3.8 450HP, CL, Xenon, thicker steering wheel, more downforce, proper OEM track seats, front grills and rear air ducts and a fresh clear bra that was needed anyway.

This time I take her virginity..

Finance rate new cars 4-5%.

A bargain
