Fckng marketers. Always making me want more just when i think i'm satisfied.
At some point the hp/chassis balance will be compromised. this would likely be that point. i can barely keep my puny 380 hp car on the track....

What I read stated that the "RS" moniker was the choice of the writer to describe the notion of a lightweight 911-anything. Sadly, if Porsche is willing to put "GTS" on a bloody Cayenne, nothing's holding them back from putting RS on the Panacebo for that matter.
And I agree that the really implausible part of the story is the 440lb diet. That would be fantastic if true. Of course the price will surely reflect the limited production volume and I think that's a swing and a miss from Porsche. They really need to do this with a GT3 and price it down and sell a lot of things. But I've harped on this before and before and before ...

If they *could* make a 2800 pound GT2 then they certainly could make a 2800 pound GT3 since there's no heavy turbos, etc. GT3s have always had hard working hp (good torque curve, good aerodynamics means they are faster than many cars with same power to weight), and 435 is a good number, but these days it's certainly not the best (although RSs never had huge numbers comparatively). GT3s are awesome cars at 3075 pounds, but would be absolutely amazing at 2800 pounds or less. Of course more fun too...

Wow! Porsche is making a concentrated effort to generate excitement in its cars, with the new GT3 being rolled out and now the possibility of a GT2 RS. I admire their product amd marketing courage, but its going to be tough to wrestle the $$$'s out of customers now - even those who have the money to spend are being cautious and tight-fisted.
Isn't this reason why we all love Porsches? Definitely not ordinary cars and definitely not an ordinary auto maker.

150lbs is doable...not probable but doable and still maintaining a streetable vehicle...not 440lbs. But if they want to and can...then by all means do!

I agree - Anything more than 100kg weight loss and I highly doubt it will be US-legal. It could be a Euro only car and lose that much weight...

if it were to have lexan rear window or similar, and a 360 stradale or 430 scud type interior, (or even CGT for that matter) losing 200+ lbs just from comfort is quite possible. lighter door panels+ wheels+ seats+ no carpets (who the F needs carpets!) and sound deadening...of course you'd still have to have all the airbags and stuff so it would probably not be US crashworthy
