Porsche had a similar concept in the 964 Turbo S Lightweight, essentially a 964 RS wide body with an enhanced and more powerful turbo engine. 400 lbs lighter than the standard turbo, 381 p.s. Total of 80 or 81 cars each built to order, priced at $200K in 1992 dollars (Sterling 125K then); the Ferrari v12s of the day were priced at $175K as a comparison. Subsequent Turbo S models from the 993 up were much more geared for comfort. The 964 Turbo S was never sold in the U.S.

in these times, they surely know that it will have to be special to sell. 580 hp and 2800 lbs sounds about right for the makings of something pretty crazy for the street. How much? 225K 250K? Very limited availability would be good too. Each very custom spec. Something really special. Anything else won't create the demand. I am not special enough to afford it!

HELP!!!!
I'm posting here to seek help as to why DELL apparently controls this site.
I cannot post a new thread since DELL apparently controls such actions -- blank screen, no priveledges, hell, drive a dell at the track, WTF?
How does one post a new thread here without money, er, Dell sponsorship getting in the way?
Try and post a new thread and the screen goes blank, with a Dell link shown to be unavailable. That's nice.

Can someone (obviously not the greedy bastards running this site) inform me how to post a new thread without getting the "The requested URL /hws/dell-usuk-rel/afe was not found on this server." message????????
Thanks.
Thanks.

The 580 Hp I believe, more boost.
The 440 lbs could be more like 44 lbs, the standard weight saving between the GT3 and GT3 RS for the 996 and 997 versions.
Lightweight flywheel, a radical rear wing, center locks, and the 7GT3 Racing seats. Pretty much a regular GT2 with a few things and $20k or more to MSRP ($225k or so). Because of the seats the car can't be U.S. legal.
Porsche will not build a 440 lbs lighter 911 of the current 997. They will need so many new lightweight body parts for such a low production car, and the R&D cost on those parts can't be recovered at the end of the life cycle of the 997. Moreover, the lighter body parts can get the weight down 100 lbs, where are the other 340 lbs coming from?
There were rumors about another GT2 coming with around 600 Hp to compete against the current fast cars (Viper, ZR1, incoming R35 Vspec, Audi R8 V10, Lambo LP560). Porsche needs a 600 Hp 911 with more suspension improvements, to reset the bar.

It might be the first street-legal one, but I think there were a few 968 Turbo RS's for competition:
