Strip 237 pounds off an RS! ... end up with a 3014 pound car

As most GT3 owners are comfortable using their cars for regular street use on top of their track usage, a totally stripped out GT3 will be deemed too "Uncomfortable" for daily use and it will not sell very well.
Besides, by spending efforts to "strip out" the car, they are going to charge more money. So the buyer is going to pay more for a "lesser equipped" car that will offer just a few seconds of track advantage, more "raw" and fun driving factor, but big compromise in daily drivability.

With the latest GT3/RS Porsche lost another future buyer. They both are far overweight for the $$$. If they are going to be that heavy, at least increase the darn displacement!
My '79 (some of it glass) weighs about 2,500 lbs. Where is the extra weight on the new GT3/RS coming from? Obviously not high tech materials.
It is indeed a sad day when a Corvette has more technology in a fender than the Porsche has in the entire vehicle. I will not even go into the non-GT3 variants with their wet sump motors, or the embarrassingly heavy Turbos.
As a dyed in the wool Porsche guy, I am still trying to come to grips with the fact that the Z06 is simply a better car. Oh well, guess I'm proud to be an American! Needless to say my third performance car won't be a GT3/RS no matter how good they look. I could never sleep at night knowing that the Vette could hand it to me in just about any contest (aside from fit/finish/interior).
It used to be when I was young that while the Vettes always had that crude power, the Porsches were better/safer because they handled better and were engineered better. What the heck happened to this company?

It seems that there's about 200 pounds to take out of the GT3 RS without sacrificing anything, no "stripping" needed. Porsche could have done this for us. As a manufacturer, if they tried harder it seems that they could have gone even further than this since they could change things that would be impractical for the consumer to "fix."

So you defect to the new Vette - congrats, excellent choice - particularly the '08 iteration with uprated steering feel.
Am surprised though you found it superior to the GT3....also that you've had the chance to back to back test them.
Or are you simply comparing stats and not actual first hand experience?

I would suggest for all you armchair experts to get together and become a manufacturer like Ruf or Techart and built this "holy grail" lightweight RS and sell it at your dealerships where profit is going to be a dirty word and dump each one , for invoice, because, hell, you guys don't want to take advantage of some dude with stuffed pockets. It is fun to be a consumer advocate while in retail aka spread the wealth. Maybe call it the Hammer & Sichel RS edition.
The same experts blessed with the same talent as Hamilton (only a fool would deny that Rennlist is THE breeding ground for future world champions) will then proceed to Willow Springs , Laguna or Buttonwillow to smash lap records after lap records, afterall ,that is the least the overweight/bald GT3RS driver brigade with the help of Viagra can do for the community. During those intense moments it will also be discovered that the immense wax collection in possession of said experts , when properly applied , also reduces lap times. Needless to say while engaging in this dangerous " beyond the limit" driving in stylish Stand equipment same experts are still able to produce qualifying laps in bunches ONE handed while the other hand is trusted to warrior the keyboard (Apple of course) to give live feed to net forums.
I feel soooooo blessed that I can witness this true milestone of the car revolution.

This usually causes all kind of debate between Vette and Porsche guys. I am not wanting to create a boasting match here - just unbiased experience is what I am asking.
I really don't want to start the usual peeing match about this or that.
If you run into a decent driver of a Z, it really won't matter if you have an RS, a GT-3 or a 996 GT-3. You will respect more than just his/her straight-line speed when it's all over.
I love 'em all (well maybe I'm not so keen on Lotus engineering right now). Driving quickly is a special experience, and I've been blessed to have a sample of several different cars over the past couple of years. But you would make a mistake to imagine a Z is just about torque (although it does certainly deliver in that dept. too).

Again I was NOT trying to start an argument here.
