Disgraceful to whom? Certainly not to me.
I'd take a GT3 RS every day of the week, over its antiquated forebear....
I'd make an exception for the '73 RS though...that was choice.

With regards to the -20% of the value of the car, I'm not sure that's true or it really matters. If you keep the speakers, AC, metal (aluminum?) doors, and the like I'm still seeing about 190 pounds of weight loss with a full interior. So we are talking 190 pounds with NO downside what-so-ever. It would look just like a stock car besides the wheels, lightweight carpet, and RS door panels... which all add to the car in my opinion. That kind of weight loss without penalty should be exactly what an RS driver wants and I think there would be one or two true believers that would pay a premium for that sort of thing. But even if not, it still seems absolutely worth it for track day fun. I mean it almost splits the difference in weight between RS and cup car while retaining all the comfort of the road RS.

Lightweight carpet-good
Lightweight battery- good, keep stock part
Lightweight wheels- great, plus you can keep stock parts
Lightweight Doors- great, keep stock doors...
New exhaust- awesome, keep the stock one too
I would pull the trigger on this stuff first...it's all pretty easy to put the stock stuff back on for shows or sale down the road, and for the carpet, just throw extra floor mats in if you want to get the weight back...

Lightweight carpet saves 10.38 kg (that's about 23 lbs.)?
Is there a ton of sound deadening (WTF?) or what kind of posh crap they use originally?!

Lotus builds a car under 2000 lbs and Porsche can't get a couple hundred off of that big fat pig of a car; makes me sick. However, it is a great car, and I will get rid of my Exige S for a regular fat boy GT3. These cars should be 3000 lbs for the GT3 and 2800 for the RS; garsh darn it!

Porsche should have made the effort to trim the RS's weight significantly. It should be a true "lightweight" like past RS models. Obviously it could've been done quite easily, without sacrificing daily usability, and for little cost.
