Sound limits at race tracks is the most ***-backwards thing I can think of this morning.

That may be true, but considering the world we live in, and the "not in my back yard" type of folks that need to be coddled, it's the reality. People will move to areas where a race track already exists, then act surprised and start lodging complaints. Everyone is special, everyone needs a trophy, stop making so much noise.

The muffler weights about 28lbs, but is much stouter than the OEM units.......PM me for more info if you need to.

The cost of the SSprint rear muffler kit is not too bad (I purchased mine from ECS Tuning....you can buy them direct from SSprint too), compared to say a Dundon rear muffler.

How's the tone, any diff from the OEM center muffler? My full system just arrived, going to get it installed soon, the headers look glorious. I'm getting way too antsy

Im about to install dundon streets on to mine which already has a gmg center. Will probably be too loud but worth a try. If it is too loud Ill go pick up a center muffler. I can live with volume its the drone that kills.

For sure will be super loud, but glorious. Tracking mine for the first time this weekend. Expect to be deaf by Monday.

Cautiously optimistic it won’t be too bad. Dundon has video of same set up but with a mini crack pipe which I would think is louder than gmg. Apparently its totally liveable. Ill report back once its done.

IMHO, you have the best set up for low maintenance and maximum weight reduction. If you must swap out for noise restriction reasons then go with a Cup center muffler. Anything else will crack and you will be pulling the bumper many times a year to weld the center muffler. I tried a lot of different manufacturers. They all cracked. Eventually went with Sharky track and never had another issue.

Yeah, I wouldn't change it if I didn't have to meet sound, but I have to be under 102.5db at one of my primary tracks, so have to do something.

Also, PM me if those E88s are gold centers . . .

honest question here. I hear a lot about the centers cracking with side bypass pipes. But I’ve had that set up (stock center section, stock headers, no side mufflers) on three different cars now with lots of street driving and about ten track days between them. No issues. But, I have the fabspeed link pipes that use both outlets into the stock center muffler. Could it be that when the exhaust gases are split between the two inlets the center muffler lasts longer fares better? Just curious why I have had literally no issues and I’m wondering if the dual outlet bypass pipes are the reason.

I spoke at length to the dundon guys about this when I did their headers. It can always happen in theory but the high risk scenario is with no cat race headers and even then much more likely on track vs. street. If you are running street headers, cats, factory manifolds w/ side deletes etc. risk is pretty low. Porsche did beef up the centers over time so the 991 muffler a little more robust than 997 and the steels all else equal are a little more robust than titanium RS mufflers.

I have always deleted sides via dundon street headers and kept a factory center. No issues, but Im a get up early and drive to country vs. track user.

Waiting arrival of my (new to me) .2 GT3. Considering exhaust mod. Y'all seem to know a lot about this. I won't be on the track, this is purely a fun/investment type vehicle for me. Is there a mod you can do that will keep sounds low and manageable (near stock) when in the city, then getting that wonderful, nasty sound when opening up the car a little?

Thanks in advance for the ideas and/or advice.

Sharkwerks center but they are loud no matter what compared to stock.

I have a FVD full system that I'm contemplating changing to experience something else. It's a full long tube header, side mufflers, & 200 cell cats. Pm me if you're in treated in either one of those, You might be able to fin d my classified if they haven't expired.

I don't think you'll find something that really balances the two, but then again this is very subjective. Always going to be a compromise if you want it to be near stock in town.

Might try just adding the SW center delete to start and see if that suits your liking. It's by far the cheapest way to experiment.

Center delete probably what you want. Sharkwerks is a good one, not as loud as the GMG style and like the way it mounts up better. With valves closed its pretty civilized, valves open its definitely an improvement over stock. GMG sounds better to me but louder.

Option 2 is side delete. I like this option better personally. It gets rid of the giant heat sink mufflers next to tires, keep functioning valves and I like the sound profile but you do get some drone.

Option 3 dundon street header (which deletes side mufflers) $$ but best of all worlds. No drone, sounds amazing, noticeable change in power band, valves still work and in my opinion still perfectly civilized with a center muffler.
