I Bought the White Flood 997 GT3RS at Copart

Good luck! I watched my buddy pretty much restore a Z8. A few months ago monsoons came through and the car was in an underground garage. Water was about half way up the transmission tunnel. Replaced the entire body harness, every module/electronic component and trim/carpet pieces below the top of the transmission tunnel. I think he quoted the customer around 80hrs (BMW dealer). Entire interior had to be torn apart. Learned alot about Z8s after seeing it completely torn apart . There was alot of water in the exhaust, but no engine damage.I think the only engine electronic that got damaged were the o2 sensors. Something to also think about is the corrosion damaged the pressure plate and would prevent it from releasing completely. He didn't learn that until the car was finished because the car wouldn't start in the beginning. It looked like an absolute nightmare of a car to be stuck with but at the end of the day, the car is operating as designed now and the customer hasn't brought it back with any weird issues.

Definitely subscribed. I do a lot of work on my old '70 car but not too much on my GT3. Always think its powered by voodoo. I like your fearless approach.
Keep the updates coming.
BTW, for first time videoing I think you're doing an excellent job.

Doh !! Thanks for the heads up. Corrected
Yes I have that option. Cool then, I'll just leave it at that. Thinking about swapping it out anyway at some point in the future
Good point. It didn't occur to me to try that. But in the future I'll know to try that first
Again, thanks for the encouragement. Definitely been an experience. I'll put the third video together today. The next one is juicy. I dig in to the electronics and codes etc. If you guys (and girls) like the videos please subscribe to the channel. I'm always tinkering with stuff so plenty of content there to keep videos coming. But no point if people don't care to see them if you know what I mean

Great using the emergency cable to release the frunk but for future reference you can power the system at the fuse panel and door striker like you did but you have to use the button on the remote to pop the frunk. The frunk/rear deck won’t open via switch when there is less than 9v

I had a dead battery on an 07 Turbo. Hooked up another battery to the fuse panel. The switch in the car wouldn’t open the frunk but using the key fob got it open. Seems like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Here is part 3
Digging into the computer and codes
This one kind of drags on but necessary to check all the systems and get some direction as to what actually needs fixing
Good time for a cold adult beverage

Best thread in a long time. Finally some great content that takes us off of that cars for sale thread. That thread needs to be closed down

My winning bid was $111k plus they nailed me with $7700 buyer fee plus some other BS fees so the wire I sent to them was just under $119k. This is pretty much public information so I didn't see the need to put it out there. Let's not forget the $1700 for shipping plus the major PITA to get the car picked up and dealing with the people at the Long Island branch which was a nightmare. It took 3 attempts before I was finally able to get the car on its way to me. A couple of people have asked and without hesitation I gave them the number.
This was a big gamble for me. I assure you that number put a substantial dent in my bank account. But I figured that my worst case scenario was sell it and break even, best case was having a car I could definitely sell for more than I paid OR I would have my dream car for much less than I'd ever be able to buy it for out in the open market.
It was a risk, I took it and in the end I'm happy with my decision.
And being happy is what life is all about.....
