Hi Tom,
Let me know if I can help further once you receive your Piwis. We had rain and lightning last night so I didn't want to connect the laptop and inspect the Rear module Coding section. I'm not sure if from the Rear module screenshot I sent you from the VAL I had recently saved has the coding info you need to install the new module. At the time Pedro restored his flooded RS as I recall, he was able to code it easily using Durametric. That info should be on this thread or one of his videos. If you'd like I should have time tonight and can connect, go to Rear module, Coding and see what it says. I don't think Piwis has to be in development mode E to do this, but if you're getting one I suggest a software version with Full Development(engineering) mode just in case-
JB

Hey JB-

No Hurry. I have the new module, but am waiting on the PIWIS cable. I saw the coding in Pedro's video, but I wanted to get it from someone with a .2 GT3.

Thanks,
Tom

Ok Tom, when you're ready just let me know-
From the Service manual, some info-don't forget, you will need a clean constant power unit of at least 40 amps, so you can order one while your Piwis and VCI are on their way. Regular battery chargers will not do. Piwis thread has examples. If you also own a Cayenne, Panamera or newer car they need 75 to 100 amp constant power-
This is for Piwis II but should be similar. Let me look for Piwis III manual so you can read it and get familiar with all the procedures-

Make sure ignition is off before unplugging and plugging control units-

Thanks JB. I appreciate your help. I should have the PIWIS up and running this weekend. Then the cable by the end of next week.

It wouldn't kill Porsche, or any manufacturer, to conformally coat its electronics modules so they don't self destruct if the car should get into some flooding. And it'd costs just dollars per unit.

I've thought that when the day comes when I can afford my own 911, those modules will be removed, conformal coatings applied, and then reinstalled. Just because it's cheap insurance.
