You don't want a template for vinyl that is stretched when applied to curved surfaces like mirrors. It will rarely if ever turn out right. You'd want to stretch a piece larger than the area to be covered, THEN apply it to the surface there, THEN apply heat again to remove creases and bubbles. Then trim with an exacto.. always a new, sharp blade. You stretch first then shrink via reheating it AFTER it's applied because it will eventually lift at the edges if you stretch and heat it while applying.

Quick update... was able to get out of work early today and check out a couple body shops. 5 shops latter, I found one I felt comfortable with.
$300 for final coat and paint. Since the car is parked for the winter I told him keep it for the month to keep the cost down. Spare time job...
I'll post pics once it's back...

Hopefully this week. We agreed end of month. I called today but didn't want the update from the receptionist so waiting for a call back. It sucks driving around with no decklid...
I have been playing around with the lettering on the back. Not sure if I am going to leave it naked or try one of these configs. I think I like the last 2 the best.

looks good so far. are you planning on finishing it off with any body filler? i only ask because you may want to take into consideration the added weight of the filler. making stuff is always more rewarding than buying stuff, in my opinion. i really like the shape you chose to make it (from the rear view)

Yeah, it has a few coats of body filler. I am assuming the body shop will add one more final coat to get it right.
I will weigh both of them when I get it back but guessing 5lbs extra weight.

So I went to pick it up today. Its 95% but not perfect. I am having them sand it back down and repaint it. It looks like the final sanding they got lazy. There were a few minor imperfections that I wasn't willing to live with. Not in the clear but in the paint.
Its going to look awesome though.

Excellent work; looks great. Wish I could find a Singer wing for my 996 C4S.
Available options just seem too large, IMO. Your version looks elegant and not garish.
BTW: I favor the 'P O R S C H E' letter alone on the deck, but hey: It's your car.
